Lap times, top speeds, so far....
I'm trying to find out the lap times and top speeds of the McLaren F1 GTR in 1997. Does anyone know where I could find this info? And maybe for 96 and 95 as well. I may try to get all the times from these years in fact and all cars, from 1995 to 1998. But particularly the Big Mac.

Yes, sorry, I forgot to mention that I was after the Le Mans times. If you could help out would be fantastic. Any car specs on hand, by the way?

I think the laptimes are on the ACO site or were, don't know where you'd find the top speeds though.
Going off on a tangent I think I remember reading (in Autosport?), that last year the FFSA Viper was actually faster (laptime) at the test days than the Mclaren F1 short tail version in 95/96 - just shows how far the GTS cars have gone (including the regs change in '99) against the original GT1 cars! Logan. |

If anyone has the Le Mans Annuals to hand, they will have the fastest pre-qualifying times for each car, fastest qualifying times for each driver in each car and fastest race lap for each car.

Don't forget that even in 1995 the McLaren F1 GTR wasn't the fastest qualifier in its class. The Ferrari F40 and even a Venturi (I think) outqualified it.

The fastest F1 GTR in qualifying for Le Mans in 1997 was the 42 Schnitzer (works) car of Lehto, Soper and Piquet. Not surprisingly, Lehto set the time of 3:45.402. (Soper 3:50.516 and Piquet 3:55.260). By comparison, the sister 43 car of Kox, Ravaglia and Helary was qualified by the Frenchman in 3:48.057. (Kox - 3:50.704 and Ravaglia - 3:57.542). By way of comparison, the pole time was 3:41.581 set by Alboreto in the 7 Joest Porsche WSC95.
