Williams F1 Factory tour Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Nov 14th

RBS special tour of Williams F1 to watch the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (14 November)

Thanks to the generosity of Royal Bank of Scotland and the Go Motorsport initiative to retain marshals, we have been offered a terrific tour for 10 marshals to the Williams F1 facility to be the guests of Royal Bank of Scotland. The provisional itinerary is as follows:
• 9.30am Breakfast
• 10.35am Tour of the factory and F1 collection:
• 1.00pm Big screen viewing of the Abu Dhabi F1 Race with live pit link
• 3:00pm Lunch
• 4:30pm Guests depart
To apply for a place, please send your name, club name, contact phone number and MSA marshal’s registration number to me at bmmc.chair@marshals.co.uk, with the subject heading “Williams F1”.
You must also include the answer to this question -
“Who was Frank Williams talking to when he complained about his Williams suspension-
Frank Williams suggests "You could sit on your wallet,."
and got the response "Yeah, if you gave me something to put in it!"

All correct entries received by Sunday 31st October will go in a draw - first ten names will win a place - subject to you being contactable by telephone in the following week.
ALL marshals, from all disciplines, from all clubs are eligible provided you are currently registered with the MSA and are aged 16 or above.

Good luck

I did this earlier this year, and it didn't include a tour of the factory, but was held in a separate conference building with the F1 collection/museum.

Definitely worth doing though. The collection contains a whole load of Williams F1 cars. Not quite as impressive as the Donington collection, but still good to see, especially if you like to get up close to some of the cars, including those driven by the likes of Senna, Mansell, and Hill. Another exhibit includes various bits of cars and trophies, &c. Other activities included an F1 simulator (sit in a static F1 car from a few years ago, and do a couple of laps of Silverstone - basically a video game type of thing - the MSA Academy drivers with us obviously blitzed the top 10), and a Scalextrix type race.

If it's the same as before, you'll be sharing the day with around 80 corporate guest types, so should probably avoid jeans/t-shirt. The GP is shown on a big screen in a conference room, with the live timing screen, and you'll get updates on what's happening from the team, and if it works this time, a live Q/A session with someone senior in the team, from the pit lane before the race starts.

Quite interesting for the Monaco race, with the Williams drivers causing (sort of) 3 safety cars (Hulkenburg crashed on the first lap with a suspension failure, later Barricello crashed, and the 3rd SC was after he reported that the cause of his crash was an open manhole cover, which had to be checked/dealt with)

nine out of the ten lucky winners have been notified and have accepted. There were 82 correct entries.

I will list the winners as soon as No. 10 has accepted.

Guess there might be a different atmosphere in the camp after Nico's awesome performance at Interlagos. The guys will dine out on that one for a while..........
