Time to remove window nets?

That would save a lazy $1.2m per season for a driver who craves attention all the time

Window nets a must have. Ask Owen Evans if he would have liked a window net when his tyre blew trying to set the Nz land speed record. I do agree that some need to be mounted better.

Jasons seat mounts did not break, nor did the mounting bolts pull through. One of the wings on the seat broke, so I suppose it dids its job for a bit.
The window net for us is mounted on the door and is an issue. If you lose your door in a roll over you have no net. We had actually talked about this earlier in the year, and with the enduros, then coming up, it was going to be a problem mounting it off the cage, (for driver changes).

For next year we will most likely mount it off the cage until the enduros, then we will have to come up with something else.

I have spoken to Oscar about changing from our 'metal rod' system that mounts the net, and mentioned what some of you guys have been talking about. He has now given me the project of getting this right for us next year, so I will be keen on hearing for any other suggestions.

You can use the metal rod but weld a seat belt type buckle to the front end of the rod so that it will not fall out when the door frame twists.

I'm off to the States after EC to a large Motorsports Trade show, and I'm getting fitted for a Hans device. I dont want to know there is something there that can potentially save me from serious injury and I choose not to wear it. Even though are cars are safe I dont want to ever say if only.

The seat buckle clip is a good idea, and while I'm at the show I will see as much as I can on the driver safety side of things.

Simon I never implied that the bolts did pull through on Jason's seat,merely that the problem can occur.
Did the wing break as a result of the car coming in to meet it or the seat meet the car.
I guees what I am getting to is ,si the seat still square to the car after the accident or is it leaning over to one side.I have seen quite a few tin tops that the seat has actually been leaning over after a big hit and thus the drivers head has come in contact with the B pillar.have a look whilst in the states and see how many drivers seats arent supported at the top.I for one would be interested in the findings.
Mounting the net to the cage is the go,and in reality with the restrictors in the fuel fill hose a pair of drivers that used to be able to change seats in 12 seconds could surely fumble with a window net in less than the extra time the fuel takes now.What is it about 24's or something like that compared to 15-17

Seat was fine onlooker, still intact in the right place in the car, just the wing broke because they are pretty flimsy really and not designed for constant impacts. They are there to stop your kneck stretching to far and hitting the cage on the initial impact. If the seat had mounts further up as well, it would reduce the leverage on the seat mounts, but I think the seat needs the movement in it so its not a rigid structure sending the impact energy soley into the driver.

Your right with the driver changes, Jase and I had our changes down under 10 seconds consistantly, just hopefully we have no splash and go's with need of a driver change. (joke...)

In the mid 80's some speed bumps were installed, but these were removed for the WTCC race in 87. A 60 kph speed limit was introduced in 96, later lowered to 40kph.
