The Effect of the Pug LMP on WR

I've had an idle thought, prompt by the mention that the motorshow prototype of the new Peugeot 908 used WR running gear, and the fact that Gerard Welter has a dayjob with Peugeot.

Will WR benefit from Peugeot's latest project? Could they get components from the LMP1 car for use in their LMP2 vehicle, or even get a hand-me-down car to run in LMP1 in time for the 2010 regs?

Or will it go against them? Pug put all their energies into the diesel motor and therefore cannot assist with an LMP2 spec engine.

Weren't the early 90s WR's based on the 905?

I think WR are heading in a different direction. See this:-

Not heard much since.

Now that I think about it, could WR possibly build a car off of the new 207Cup or whatever they call that open cockpit car they plan to turn into a one-make series?

NO!



The very first WR could have used a bodywork inspired by the "905 Spider", a vehicle produced for a sort of "one make" sportscar series launched together with the 905 Gp.C. The rules specified the use of the same bodywork and running gear for everyone, chassis was "free" (although exotic materials could'n possibly be allowed...).

I don't think WR will benefit otherwise Peugeot had given Welter already some support in the last few years.
