Dubious Associations

The last paragraph is pertinent to SC. TC really does know the best people with money. |

Think you will find WGA's sponsorship is of the Middle East Championship, nothing to do with V8SA.

As the other guys said, the Bahraini Supercar series has nothing at all to do with V8 Supercars or TC.
It is a series that originally used tweaked up and caged road cars supplied by Walkinshaw - not sure if it still uses the same cars as they'd be getting grey hair by now. If you have a bit of a search in this part of the forum, you'll find footage of the series that has been posted up a few times by one of the guys running a team there. Found the post and the youtube link - here it is: http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=131168 |

Someone had better tell SMH because it uses the term SUPERCARS and I can't imagine that the term was not derived from the Australian series can you? In fact I would think the term SUPERCARS would have to be licensed or TC would be all over them due to the clash if he wanted to move into that market.

we are already in the market Casper. we race in the same part of the world and at the same track(s)
TC is already aware of it, but the word supercars is a generic word, |

how old are you? Have you been living under a rock? I use the term Supercars in my business name, and I have no intention of ever touching a Falcon or Commodore REAL Supercars have been around a long long long time, and hardly any of them have 4 doors and a single camshaft. |

Does that mean a NASCAR is more of a 'supercar' than any lambo or ferrari????
It's door to camshaft ratio is far superior! and don't forget the General Lee |

Nascars and General lee have one more camshaft than it does doors... Most Lambos and Ferraris have TWO more..... Even you can work out that two is twice as much as one... Surely |

The question is can you read a post correctly? door to camshaft ratio A 2 door quad cam Ferrari has 0.5 of a door per camshaft. A NASCAR has 0 doors per camshaft. Wanna take your socks off to check? |

Here I was thinking I was being witty (cheap wit), but it seems I'm af aff affl... that big word you used
anyhoo, enough of the personal insults. Back on topic Speaking of multi cam, minimal doored, real (grand) touring supercars. Care to elaborate on the private test you alluded to in the Sandown thread? Is it all models involved, or just the new ones and what are they looking for parity wise as Simonsen samples each one? |

The point that I am trying to make is that some people try to belittle V8 Supercars or NASCAR on the basis of using old technology.
And while a single camshaft engine may seem old hat when compared to a twin cam or for that matter a quad cam engine, there is nothing old hat about the manufacture, assembly, and testing of these engines. Nor the resulting performance. And let's not forgot when comparing GT3 and V8 Supercars (or NASCAR) we are comparing a hotted up road car against a purpose built racecar. I'll let you work out which is which. |

oh, I've worked it out.
The hotted up road cars can do 2.04.XX at Bathurst, 1.29.XX at Phillip Island, 1.28.XX at Eastern Creek. The race cars can only wobble round about 4 seconds off the pace. oh, and the race cars have at least 50 BHP more than the hot roadies, if not 75 |

No argument here, the hotted up road cars are quick (and enjoyable - I really enjoyed the Vic. Tourist Trophy at PI), but the lack of multi cam engines does not somehow make a race car more or less worthy.

its ok boys, my man bit is bigger than yours
seriusly, an F1 did a 1.40ish, leaves them both for dead and lets see if that ferrari gets anywhere near a 2.04 when it counts on race weekend and then lets take a v8 up there on an unoffical test day, when they can run it in a non enduro trim and see how it goes Last edited by peckstar; 28 Jan 2012 at 11:16. |
