DSC's analysis suggests to 'expect a partial change in emphasis for driver selection for the Blancpain GT series effort'
Shorthand for 'Out go most of the GT Academy graduates, and in come ridebuyers bringing external sponsorship....?' |

Could be, but I think it's more likely "we contracted a tonne of drivers last year and have cut back to only a few programmes this year, so we tried to keep the best ones to teach the new GT Academy grads"
We know Ordonez will be on the books, there must be at least the Australian guy who won their last competition, and I imagine they will keep Chiyo and Buncombe onboard, which would only leave a couple of seats if they're running two cars and plenty of names who could fill them. Do we know what Mardenborough is doing next year? My biggest concern with this now is that they'll scratch the N24 programme. |

Well you're not gonna have people bringing money to a Nissan factory drive so that's gonna happen. I'm with Rodger here, I think they're just trimming things down and unfortunately some of these drivers namely Reip were supported by Darren Cox who is no longer there. They've got a few GT academy drivers on the books and I doubt they'd be paid much so you're not really saving much money there. I don't understand why they'd dump Reip apart from the new management not being a fan of his because he has done really well in his time with Nissan. Same with Ordonez and Mardenbrough. Mardenbrough is a damn good driver, very talented. If Nissan were to drop him then it's really Nissans loss |

On another forum (e-i), there's talk of Oak wanting to use a/the Nissan engine in lmp1. Anyone hear of this?

With Reip, I could see (unfairly) maybe his nationality wasn't as marketable as someone from a bigger market. That said, Shultzitskiy in particular you'd struggle to make that argument for, but equally if they're wanting space for, say, an Indian, American or Chinese candidate, that could be another reason. On that note, I could see Bryan Heitkotter dovetailing it with his PWC programme, he made big strides last year.
However, there's also the fact that, aside from a potential and certainly not decided future IMSA programme, there's no longer the future incentives for development that they previously had. The ACO ditching Nissan's P2 platform means there's no longer that chance for progression from the guys who do well in the GT3. The failure of the P1 project will have been costly, as no doubt some part of it will have been sold as 'the final rung on the GT Academy ladder'. I'm sure we'll speculate more when we know the names! |

Nice to see the Bentleys back in Sprint after a good showing by HTP last year. Sprint looks to be picking up nicely this year.
McLaren GT's Facebook has announced Garage 59 as a new customer team (although I understand it is pretty much in house, like M-Sport is to Bentley), with programmes including the FULL Blancpain GT Series, GT Cup and International GT Open https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...19&__tn__=%2As |

2016 Blancpain Endurance Series
Garage 59 eh? Anyone with a knowledge of the significance of that number to McLaren will know what I'm talking about.
The new Von Ryan Racing (a factory team in all but name) I hope so. Hope to see Shane Van Ginsbergen back in Europe with McLarenGT this year. |

Garage 59 raced in a single GT Cup round last year, Donington I think, they were interviewed for the programme and said it was a driver development scheme for AM drivers. Now it's a customer team... So either as you say it's the same as Von Ryan, or a AM customer has decided to take it on. However seems too big an operation for that |

To add, Sportscar365 just did an article about this entry suggesting it's the rebirth of CRS racing, and is essentially and expanded version of VonRyan from last year.
Full Blancpain GT, so we will see 4 Mclarens in BES |

So is Garage 59 basically Von Ryan Racing, with McLaren/CSR taking over the management of it? And what of MSR? Are they related to any of this?
