It really is just like the old days... Mansell's ill, so if he wins he'll make sure everyone hears how he battled through the pain despite being pumped full of Lemsip, and if he loses it's because his nose kept running in his helmet.

I doubt they'll ever get Piquet. His feet and ankles are still not right after the shunt that ended his career. I'm quite surprised Fittipaldi is giving it a go, but good on him for doing so. If Prost were to do it, I reckon he'd win. You'd think Scheckter would be out at Kyalami of all places, even though he's based in the UK now.

You may well be right, but let's give the guy a chance. Afterall, this was part of the Mansell make up and what made him (and I hope stil does) such an exciting driver to watch.

Alan Jones has now had to pull out - he's aggravated a long standing back injury

He said in a TV interview just now it was a back problem.

He's going to get it fixed over the winter.

Whatever, Salazar is out there now in qualifying, so there will still be 15 cars on the grid.

I'm not quite sure what I think of all this just yet.

I enjoyed that. It was just like old times. Too much power, not enough grip. Do as many laps as you wish. Happy days are here again. FIA take note, that is what single seaters are all about.

I'm sorry if this has all ready been mentioned but I have only followed this recently..
It says on the main site that Alain Prost is a driver in the series yet he doesn't seem to be racing this weekend. Could some one explain why? Thanks....
It says drivers have to be retired from all forms of open wheel racing which he does gt races in France and ice racing so....

Nigel Mansell:

"We have enough practice time to get the cars well set-up and have a proper qualifying session where we can do as many laps as we like."
