Maybe, care to enlighten us with anything? New track Teretonga? They heading back to Highlands? Manfield gone?

this one has been online for a while. obviously it's not completed.. and dates haven't been confirmed.

1. Taupo 400- Taupo 27–28 September
2. Waikato 400- Hampton Downs 1–2 November
3. Fuchs 500- Pukekohe 28–30 November
4. TBA
5. TBA
6. TBA
7. ITM 500- Pukekohe April

if ST do return as a support for the NZGP (no doubt as the premier support category lol) will the final two rounds see yet another return to Puke and a toss up between Ruapuna and Highlands?

I reckon Teretonga would be a winner for them provided the safety thing works out OK - would be the closest thing they'll get to a V8 Supercar in that part of the world and events seem to be well supported down there by the locals.

I don't know exactly, I shall re-phrase to say, " The perceived issues of safety that were mentioned as a reason for ST not visiting there a season or two ago."

Whether they are/were real and have been solved I do not know...

Thanks. Wondered if they were real or part of the V8ST safety team that seems to have issues with most circuits in the country

Whilst I no longer speak for V8ST, I have to say that when I ran the Company we only ever had a problem with two circuits safety, namely Timaru and Teretonga, both of these circuits were well aware of our concern, and both of them have now gone to considerable lengths to improve those safety concerns.

As I have not personally seen the safety changes at either circuit I am however informed, from reliable sources, that most of our original concerns have now been addressed.

Thats not to say that all circuits in New Zealand are as safe as they could be made, but given the very high cost of further safety measures, like much bigger run-off area's they have all been steadily improved and continue to do so.

So what exactly were the areas of concern for those two circuits??

what about the elitist need for pit garaging ? wasn't one of the original concerns ?

Primarily the use of rammed earth tyre's bank's and insufficient run-off area's, Timaru had some issue's that are somewhat unique to that circuit, such as the pit lane entry point, and the front straight starting grid, as I said in my previous post on this subject most of our issue's have been addressed, and in the case of Timaru's traditional starting grid I understand the club has agreed to move that to the back straight as has been done in former times.

I'm unsure about the tyre banks etc but i know that Timaru has certainly made a change to the pit lane entry and the lane itself, which has made it significantly better and safer.

Just got an email through from V8ST with a couple of dates confirmed for the sprint series next year. Thankfully Ruapuna is there as is Timaru, so may get to go see them twice in a few weeks.
ROUND ONE: TAUPO 400, September 27-28, Taupo Motorsport Park
ROUND TWO: WAIKATO 400, November 1-2, Hampton Downs
ROUND THREE: FUCHS 500, November 29-30, Pukekohe Park Raceway
ROUND FOUR: Unconfirmed at this stage (either Pukekohe or Manfeild)
ROUND FIVE: TIMARU 250, March 7-8, Levels Raceway
ROUND SIX: CHRISTCHURCH 250, March 21-22, Mike Pero Motorsport Park
ROUND SEVEN: GRAND FINAL: PUKEKOHE, April 24-26 with V8 Supercars.

I would have to say that is the best calendar they have done to date - and two SI rounds as well which should keep people happy. Interesting Timaru rather than Teretonga

Yeah I'm pretty happy. May have to shoot down to Timaru and catch them there in addition to Ruapuna.

Ahhh so its finally released....
Great to see that they have decided to come to Levels (well overdue IMO), and Ruapuna returns so that's great for the SI fanbase.
Interesting that Highlands has been left out of the mix though...

Could this potentially mean the Toyota Racing Series would also not return? Or perhaps the NZV8's have a plan...

2 south island meetings back to back? about bloody time! running 70% of their races at Hampton or Pukekohe only hurt the class. it showed in poor crowd figures this season.. and their fans south of Taupo weren't afraid to voiced their disappointment at being overlooked. hopefully this is a step in the right direction!

I am always interested in comments such as those above. WHY do they not want to return to Highlands Park?

Or more to the point, which tracks do drivers want to return to - and why?

Even if I was financial and totally mobile and distance was no object, there are tracks that I consider are unsuitable for the characteristics of my car and also tracks I'd love to race on.
