Edmonton should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Lotus GTP

Anyone car to guess how long it takes the car to either overheat or catch fire if it starts the race. They had lots of these problems back then.

I actually think the car will last until at least half way....but as far as a competitive project, this thing is a joke. Half the GT cars are faster.

If run to its full potential its should be capable of a sub 2m lap.

They must be having trouble. It seems it should be at least able to compete with the Panoz GTP. But this is another example of a car that is out of place.

Well this car wasn't exactly fast when it was new either. I'm sure there would have been better options instead of the lotus.

You'll see it when the Morgan laps it every half hour or so...if it lasts that long, but if it causes a yellow you will see it then too...thats probably about it!

It's a shame because I think it's a lovely looking car - even if it is as slow as a tortoise!

Did I hear right on RLM that the Lotus will compete in the LMES (with a Judd engine) before returning to the ALMS?

I did hear for sure that they intend to compete at the Silverstone LMES event.

Not necessarily... - the name France Meiners was mentioned. That'Sthe old GBF team from FIA-GT, and Meiners & Ferté were working on an Elise GTP project a while back. So maybe they bought that material.

Listening to the team boss on RLM last night he was talking about carrying out some pretty extensive changes to the car.

Presumably they would convert the car to the 2004 regs, if they do indeed plan extensive changes to the car.

Great ..... lets have a full grid of them for a 1000KM race and all retire to the pub after 7 laps , not my idea of sportscar racing ! Its a shame to see that car when a better car could be in its place . Whats it going to race in now , Billy Smarts Circus !!!

Even the Norma could do better , did I say that

If you upgrade the car, maybe with the Judd, and set the car out to all the news rules with tons of testing and development you could get up there eventually, but of course to do that you need money...

The car was only so slow due to technical problems. If running well it would have been as quick as the best GTS cars. With more development and the freedom of the LMP1 rules (it was afterall a former prodcution based GT1 car) the car can go much quicker.

Johnny Herbert has been recruited to test and develope the car so I read, if this is the case surely it should get better!!!

Due to the lack of performances and preparation, and to the poor show at Sebring, I'm not sure that they'll take the place of anyone at LM...

BTW, more generaly, the provisionnal entries at LM are so solid that the weakest will have a tough job to enter only one car (WR, to say one thing).
