There is a new system for the starting grids in Heat 1 & 2 according to the FIA:
With immediate effect, the starting grid composition for the first two races of the series of Qualifying Heats has been amended in order to aid spectators’ understanding of the progression of the event. In addition, a strict limit on tyre quantities per driver per event has been clarified for cost-saving reasons. |

Also, I don't understand the tyres thing. Cost-saving in a championship that costs so much just to enter is a bit hypocritical. Plus, with the number of punctures and the increased number of races the cars do under the new format, I want to see them have more tyres/turbos/engines, cos I hate to see penalties for using two turbos and then the top guys miss out on the finals. It ruins the spectacle and with live TV and more media, surely you want to ensure the top crowd-pullers are in the finals. Idiots. |

Fantastic entry, really hope IMG recognise that the public want quantity as well as quality in all classes (and that there is plenty of quality outside their few regulars)and that next year entries like this are seen at all rounds. Really felt like we got the short straw holding the first round though I guess its mainly the added local entry that makes for such great list.
Have heard and since read that de keersmaeker wont be competing in the ERC again this year so that's one less, wonder who will take the second peugeot seat though after recent results I doubt there will be a huge rush! |

Large entry list for sure, very happy about that!
Does anybody know anything about the second driver Hedström was supposed to have, is it off? A few weeks ago he posted on Facebook saying there was going to be another driver in his team, but there isn't anyone "special" in the entry list with a Skoda Fabia |

A well deserved win for Bakkerud I would say. He was denied victory in Hell by a puncture, so great to see him take the chequered flag in Holjes. Perhaps a slightly heavy handed pass on Hansen in the final, but no doubting his pace with a clear track.
Thats really closed in the top two in Supercars: Timmy or Timur for the title? Or can Jeanney (or Bakkerud) close the gap a bit more?... Sad to see another weekend of bad luck for Solberg. He wasn't looking a likely Championship contender at this stage, but two blown engines in a weekend has evaporated any chance (no matter how slim) of him challenging the Championship leaders. Hopefully 2013 will let him iron the creases out of the car so he can launch a fresh campaign in 2014. Win for Tohill as well, nice to him pulling out a lead in the Touring Cars. PS: For anyone who hasn't already seen them, I would strongly recommend a look at the Rafoss photos from the weekend... http://www.flickr.com/photos/erc24/ ...some cracking shots in there! |

His engine decided that it didnt want to be as one, so went pop! he didn't want to incur the -15 point penalty and withdrew.
He now has an unrestricted 800bhp engine installed for Gatebil! |

Whatever Bakkerud had for breakfast on race day morning to cause him to celebrate in the utterly mad way that he did, I want some! It might just be the motivational kick I need. He just went nuts!
Also, is it me or is there driving standard in the first few heats a bit too aggressive? There seems to be lots of contact, little racing room given in the early races then it sort of calms down a bit. If a casual follower like me can see that they could do with cutting down or cutting out completely the off-track coverage of the super-car drivers and what they're up to in order to allow a few more minutes for the 1600s and Touring cars, why can't those producing the TV highlights see that? At the very least, the finals of these classes ought to be shown in full. Ekstrom was very impressive - to be expected to a degree given his rally experience. |

cg nice to see you getting into a bit of rallycross!
Have to get you to Lydden one day, if you can cope with the way they do things! Ekky was seriously impressive, he ran at Munich in the bangerfest, sorry Xgames thing they had there so he had learned the car a bit, but he was super impressive at Holjes. And Bakkerud is always like that, always has been, and drive a good race and great weekend. There is a lot of contact, sadly from one of our own at times, but most of it is harmless And regarding coverage, they relaly give two hoots about the other classes, I can see them being dropped altogether nest year, to be honest it would be for the best as right now they get such a raw deal and numbers away from Scandinavia in all classes are pathetic |
