XR2racer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Youngtimers

We have the opportunity of running a Group N spec 1990 Escort Cosworth 4WD and would love to race it in the Youngtimers race at the Nurburgring.

We are struggling to find an Engilsh version of the regs and was wondering if anybody could help out. I know that there is a cut off date on the production year for eligable cars but in the past couple of years E30 M's and the like have been eligable. Would the Escort be old enough and what class would it run in and what would it be up against.

Thanks in advance.

I think, but am not sure, that the age cut off is 1979.

Cut off date at the moment is 1988, but they may change that to 1989 for next year.
At the moment the Escort isn't allowed to take part, but they do have a rule were they can allow other cars, if they are not deemed to be too powerfull.

Best to write them an email and ask.

Thanks for that. Would you know who to contact?

I know that in 2006 the cutoff was 1988 and was hoping that they would move forward annually!

I think that if you contact Hugo Holder at the CSCC office he not only has the contacts with Youngtimers office but also is fluent in German - and you could enter via the CSCC using English entry forms etc

Have a look at the CSCC website and ring him for advice (or PM me)

Worth a try!

I thought Escort Cosworths were not in production until 1992?

Thanks for your help guys.

I appears that the car was built in 92 and is definitely not eligible.

We might have a go at a DLM race instead!
