Fontana, California - weekend thread.

Fontana is next up for us NASCAR fans then. Not a great track by any means, usually pretty dull racing, but who knows what to expect there with the CoT? That will add an all new aspect to things at least.

I hear it is going to rain all weekend though, so it may be a Monday race.

Entry lists
Sprint Cup 'Auto Club 500'.
Nationwide Series 'Stater Bros. 300'.
Craftsman Truck Series 'San Bernardino County 200'.

Cup notes:

Mike Skinner will race the #27 this weekend in place of Jacques Villeneuve.
Burney Lamar is driving the EM Motorsports #08 this weekend and at Las Vegas next weekend.
MESSAGE FOR CHATTERS: Keep an eye out for Elliott Sadler's car this weekend, they are running with "U2 3D" promotional decals.

Weekend weather for Fontana
Saturday forecast is dry so the Truck and Nationwide races should be OK; 30% chance of rain on Sunday (as of this time).

JPM in Juicy Fruit colours for the first time, Dario in Target colours as Sorenson is running an Energiser livery.

Fontana is not one of my favorite tracks but I am still anxious for the race since it is only the second of the year. It will be interesting to see how the HMS cars do and if Toyota still runs strong. I think that newmand and Kurt will be in the top 12 this year and Dodge will be competitive again. Sometimes the early races are an indication of what teams will be running good all year.

Knowlesy, who is that guy in your avatar. Someone that is trying to race in Nascar?

60% chance of rain on Sunday, 10% for Monday.

Not sure on today or tomorrow. Suffice to say, there is a chance the GOGH's will not have a shot at it. In which case AJ Allmendinger will be pretty unhappy, having said he was looking forward to a much better year. Qualifying for the top 35 after Bristol may be a help AJ!

So far Nationwide first practice has been rained out and Cup practice hasn't got underway yet. Doesn't look to be raining especially heavily, just enough to stop running. Might clear up in time for qually but the GOGH's will be feeling rather nervous.

I'm an hour away from the track to the SW. Cloud are still horizon to horizon, drizzle stops here and there, but no real opening in the weather.

Err, yeah - based on their Indycar coverage from previous seasons - they're not going to be showing anything tomorrow unless it's run before their repeat is scheduled?

They usually run Monday races a lot earlier I think, so maybe it will be on before a repeat. What time are they scheduled?

Re-runs of Spanish football will take on a rather more critical importance.

Still, if there was only to be one race rained off all year it would ideally be this one. Not that this is likely to be an isolated case in 2008!

Thankfully, motorsport itself reduces the number of races rained out by contributing to global warming - so these things should be rained out less and less until we all die
