*NEW EVENT* Hutton Kitchens Brands Hatch Summer Stages 27th August 2012

Chelmsford Motor Club are pleased to announce a new event to be held at Brands Hatch on Bank Holiday Monday in August. As before I'll try and keep you updated here as much as possible and answer any questions, in the meantime please see below.

Quote:
Following the success of the TRS (Essex) Ltd Brands Hatch Stages in January, Chelmsford Motor Club is very pleased to be able to announce the Brands Hatch Summer Stages on Bank Holiday Monday August 27th 2012.

In a most unusual turn of events and possibly a first for clubman rallying in the UK, particularly given the problems most rallies have securing venues, Chelmsford Motor Club has been approached by MSV and asked to organise a ‘summer’ rally at Brands Hatch on Bank Holiday Monday 27th August 2012. After careful consideration we have decided to proceed with plans for a second Brands Hatch rally in 2012. There are no obvious local date and venue clashes and as these opportunities do not come along often we are hopeful the rally will be well received and supported by the rallying community. Spectator viewing will be improved with access to the ‘rally stage’ area, Druids including the inside viewing area and all of Paddock Hill with a stage crossing point at the top. The stages and entry fee will be similar to January and regulations should be available during June with entries opening on 1st July.

Excellent news! there's little enough rallying in Kent, so a second event at Brands is very welcome

Great work Chelmsford MC! Good to hear that the next event has taken into account the comments with regards to the spectators as well.

British Rallycross is at Lydden on the 27th, so despite being a Brands local, I won't be there.

good to hear about the improved spectating but an unfortunate date clash with the rallycross at Lydden where I and no doubt a few others will be and where you can see all the action from all around the circuit.

Not surprised at all that MSV asked them to do another rally, the one earlier in the year was superbly organised and great for spectators, despite what was often written on here. Well done to the organisers. As a lifelong rallycross fan i am torn whether to go to lydden but i am a car dinosaur and much prefer to watch RWD escorts etc NOT `dissing` the BRC though before you shout at me

Preparations for August Bank Holiday Monday are progressing nicely and I can now confirm that the title sponsor for the rally will be Hutton Kitchens.
Well known local competitor, Ed Scott of Hutton Kitchens has been eager to get involved with Brands Hatch for some while and was unable to pass up this opportunity. A big thanks to him for his generous support.
This does mean that our rally at Woodbridge on the 23rd September is now without a title sponsor, so if you or anyone you know would like to get involved, please contact the organising team.
Regulations should be available by the middle of June and entries will open on the 1st July. The route will be similar to the January rally with 8 all tarmac stages totaling around 40 miles for an entry fee of £250. I look forward to seeing you there.

Registration is open now for marshalling at the Summer Brands Hatch Stage Rally. See http://chelmsfordmc.co.uk/civicrm/ev...?reset=1&id=26

Remember you MUST be registered to be able to marshal, as we need to post you the entry pass. You can NOT turn up to marshal on the day, regardless of experience.

Great weather (hopefully!), great rally cars, a great marshals goodie (best for years) and free access to one of the best stage rallies in the Sout East. Remember members of the public have to pay to get in......

Any questions post here, or email me on marshal@brandshatchstages.co.uk

Many thanks to those who have already registered

Cheers

The seeded entrylist for this is online now - some very quick cars at the front of the field with a nice varied entry throughout (I see a 6R4 has sneaked in now too )

Just a reminder that links for updating entries [media forms etc], link for spectator tickets, link for media accreditation and marshalling can all be found in the article at http://brandshatchstages.co.uk/conte...-summer-stages

Marshal registration closes on 18th August and media accreditation closes on 20th August. If you are intending to register for either, please ensure you do it by these deadlines, thanks!

Are you one of the entries who has not fully completed their media form?

If so, please go to http://brandshatchstages.co.uk and click “update your entry” which is on the front page. Enter your [seeded] car number and the password you set up when you originally entered.

Please ensure all missing fields are completed asap, but they must be updated by Friday at 5pm at the latest.

Andrew Coley [IRC, WRC, Eurosport commentator] is commentating once again at this event and the more information you can provide on your entry, the more he’ll talk about you!

Thanks.

Seriosuly I cant really believe Brands has nothing better than this on a Bank Holiday!

Not wshing to dumb anythign down but am sure this used to be a bumper WSBK weekend

Just seems odd that all that is on at Brands on a Bank Holiday is a club rally!

It is entirely possible this was the largest event that could be scheduled into the Calendar before Brands Hatch turns pink/purple for the 2012 Paralympic Road Cycling. The road racing starts on 5th September, and there will be time needed to add the Paralympic branding.

And having marshalled the first one, I can tell you it is superb entertainment.

I'm not sure if there was a two day meeting planned for sat/sun that got canned? I think the Monday was always free on the calendar for this year and after the success of the previous two rally events it was an easy 'one off' event to slot into a gap in the calendar. Mr Palmer was at the event in January and obviously decided he can make some money out of this type of event and they can be dropped into gaps in the calendar without the problems you'd have organising a one off circuit racing event (there's no championships to worry about, calendar clashes are less of an issue, you'll more than likely run at capacity for a rally whereas a one off circuit meeting may not get so many entries etc etc).

Bringing rallying to Brands makes it very accessible to people - no trekking into a forest, no closed MOD venue issues (lots of venues don;t allow spectators at all) and there are civilised toilet facilities and food. What's better - an empty circuit or a rally?

I believe passes etc were being sent out yesterday as Brands were sending them to the Secretary at the end of last week.

The latest competitor bulletin is at http://brandshatchstages.co.uk/ as well as the stage diagrams.
