Finally, a very simple question about MotoGP
Yo everyone.
Boy its been a long time since starting a thread around here...wow. Anyway, i watch Motogp on occasion, its great, but i mainly watch it because my mate does. And he brought up a comparison between it and car racing in the event of an accident. Does the safety car come out for an accident where a bike is maybe left on the circuit? I know they are usually wheeled off and the rider walks off, or do the marshalls still walk onto the track and remove it without the safety car? Also, where there is an accident on the grass or in the gravel, do they have yellow flags and are riders able to pass there? I don't think they can...can they? Didn't Rossi get a time penalty a year or two ago on it? Anyway, cheers. |

haven't seen a safety car in motogp race .. if there's danger on the track.. it will be red flagged
yellow flag rules are the same as in car racing .. yellow flag. you don't pass yes // rossi got a penalty in donington if i remember |

They did propose to introduce safety cars a few years ago, but the idea was vetoed by the teams.

Maybe they need a safety sidecar.

*drumhit*
I think because of the small size of the bikes, they don't use it unless there is a debris everywhere then they stop and restart the race. What happened at Malaysia with that big bingle in the 125s? Was it red flagged/ |

SC doesn't make sense in the bike racing. I think going slowly and no passing could be difficult to handle. Remember that in bikes it is allowed to pass on the warm-up lap. |

Actually, Hopkins' thrilling crash in Germany(As in it looked cool, and he wasn't terribly injured...) produced a SC just to get the ambulance to him, afaik.
