If we end up with 4 or 5 superteams the sport will be the poorer for it. We need the Steve Reeds and the Bruce Ellery's to bring variety and the willingness to have a go. The big guys will only be interested in the big bucks and the passion will disapear.

Any sport needs the little guys. What Lansvale and SER are doing is great. More times than not they beat the so called Super teams and sometimes give it a real shake. Avesco and the sponsors need to support and protect the little guys. I also admire there willingness to have a go.

I read in another thread one person musing that getting hold of a level 1 licence was a pretty good investment at around $1 million as you got almost $500k back in a year. Obviously Avesco have a say in the 'who' and under the guise of 'only selecting those groups who will add to the V8 competition need apply' which translated means they can shut out anyone whom they don't like. However it begs the question (or post maybe) that if an investment of $1 Million can return $500k in a year with the original asset intact then there is obviously room at the level 1 rare air for a few more licences and therefore grid spots to be made available. Obviously there is a 'race team' cost that has to be factored in however so would external sponsorship have
to be factored in as well... Does this argument make sense? |

Was phoned today by a source willing to talk about the Ellery Sale, Unfortunately with Mum and Dad having been involved in Scottish Bus Crash, Im kinda busy on phone and net.
They are okay now though- and I will be, despite the 3am Aussie Time phone call. Ill ring him back tommorrow and see what he had to say and let you know if its worth it. |

Peter J on another thread I read about why Sirromet were suing TEGA you have explained it pretty well It is in their interests to get a Level 1 franchise abd probably in the interest of the sport any way I am a declared fan of the Dude as I think he is the coolest out there even if he is getting on a bit

Tool Man, Sorry to hear about your Mum and Dad. Hope they are OK.
Also am looking forward to see what your source has to offer. I have been fishing around for a few days and no one is talking. It all seems a bit hush hush at the moment so will be interesting. |

There are already enough L1 licences. If anyone wants to buy one, there are 13 parties who own them so give one of them a call
Whinging and bleating... all we ever hear about franchises.... |

Hi
I was alerted to this forum by a friend of mine and thought I would take the time out to reply to this particular thread. The team are at least two to three weeks away from finalising all sponsorship deals for next season. We also have not sold the franchise or the team to DJR and will compete the rest of the championship as Super Cheap Auto Racing. I hope this helps. |

Thanks Racetime and Ford Boy.
We are very confident Super cheap auto will remain our sponsor and at this point in time and the Konica program will continue. Like I said all will be comfirmed within two to three weeks. I will respond to this forum once I have word for you. I have to go and pick my family up from the airport now, is cold here in Melbourne hopefully no rain for the 500. |

Welcome Steve,
Good to hear your side of the story. If it is raining it will make for a very interesting race... Lucky I'll be nice and cosy watching it from home. |
