Chapple has been re-surfaced/re-kerbed but thats about it really. All of the main work is for the infield arena area, that is starting to look good though, should be nice to drive.

I had highlighted this earlier in the thread, and got the Motorcycles Only response, then.

Yes, FIA GT is the first meeting scheduled on The Arena. I shall be having a nose on Wednesday, at BGT testing.

Is it testing or just a Press Day ?

Not sure if this will work, but here's a picture from the pit wall... it looks so different with only half a bridge and no grandstands! oh and of course the big gravel trap. Will there be a new startline gantry though, or will all races start from the GP grid?

Will the great "Pedestrian Bridge" flag post be on the pit wall now, or has it gone for good?

I am marshalling the HSCC on Sunday - I guess the first test for the Observers will be finding their post! Fay will have to give us all her mobile number so that we can 'phone in for directions when we get lost

it's a bit of a shame, but i'm pleased they a) haven't touched bridge and b) have almost finished the modifications in a timely manner. silverstone hasn't ever really been a great spectators track anyway, if you want to get close to f1 cars go to monaco

That makes the dash from Woodcote grandstands to the BTCC podium in the paddock a bit more difficult than usual then!

I'm up there on Sunday, national circuit, and over Easter on the old GP circuit but it's not looking good for photography from behind the fences.

Has the Luffield terrace fencing been touched ?

Thx for the pics, however "depressing" some of them may be.

In one of your captions you say it's the price we pay for it being a GP circuit, I think the price is more because of being a "MotoGP" circuit. Donington was a "Binocularfest" circuit and now unfortunately Silverstone is going the same way. If spectators can't get a decent view of the action then they'll just start to stay away, why bother when you can see more of the cars on TV.

It always amazes me how Bernie puts his trust in his friend Mr Tilke to build all these fancy circuits with oceans of gravel traps etc. Whilst at the same time Bernie is trying everything to get more Street circuits on to the calender. Yes folks, that's street circuits complete with Concrete Walls and minimal run-off areas, where's the logic in that?

I didn't actually wander round Luffield, but it all looked untouched.
The thing is, I had a look from the barrier on the outside of the Arena 'toe' , and the PRESS will need a ladder to see the cars? It was hard to see 8 wheel tipper trucks at the apex...

The debris fences are FIA standard... Not FIM.

From what's been said at brands hatch I gather the 'superfencing' as we call it is the new MSA and ACU standard as well as FIA (why we now see it at non FIA places like Mallory)

Silverstone does not look good, all that shiny new fencing will be hard to focus out with a camera as well...

If luffield hasn't been touching that may be the one photography spot left...
