I'd give it back to Martin and ask for your whiskey back.
One question ,will you get more fun out of the whiskey or the Chevy. |

I know that there are many on here that don't enjoy 'lager beers', but in the bar behind Circuit de Montmelo last weekend (in the industrial area, and half hour walk always because the tunnel under circuit that leads straight to it is always closed off!) we were served bottles of Estrella Galicia. Certainly tickled my taste buds, and available in the local Carrefour......

Most will probably be aware of this but just in case - if you intend hiring a hire abroad after 8th June 2015 note the driving licence (paper counterpart) changes mentioned in the BBC link below:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-32481382 Thankfully, it won't apply to those of us who still have the old style non-photo licence. |

More aggro in this crazy world we live in ! While I'm at it if anyone is applying for a replacement licence make sure you keep a copy of your old one. A mate of mine got his back without the unlimited motor cycle part, as he hadn't kept his pass certificate from 45 years ago !!!! he had to retake the test again ! If you think the UK licence changes are a nonsense have a look at this, especially relevant if you plan on taking anything over 3.5 tonnes to Belgium next year. Let's hope they follow the splendid example the French set with their Ecotax:
......the Belgian Government wants to change its road charging system from a time based vignette to a distance based system. The charging regime will differ between the regions from a tax (no VAT reclaim possible) to a charge (VAT reclaimable). The Belgian authorities have now announced that the system introduction date has been delayed from 1 January 2016 to 1 April 2016. It is intended that, when introduced, the new system will affect commercial vehicles above 3.5 tonnes and all vehicles will need to have an on board unit. It will not be possible for manual or internet payment as in Germany. However, payment afterwards can go through fuel cards. Check with your fuel card provider. Toll rates will start similar to those in Germany, but it is likely the situation in Belgium will be more complicated. The 3 Belgian regions (Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia) will be able, and probably will, set their own rates. The Walloon region is expected to toll only highways whereas Flanders is expected to toll highways and several national roads. For further details contact:: https://www.satellic.be/en-UK |

You have to love the way the EU has become such a fully integrated society in the period of its existence.
The freedom of trade and travel, lack of protectionism for local needs all sublimely exhibited in the way the colleagues work together so adroitly and efficiently for the greater good. One or two former "Sovereign" countries have attempted to take advantage of the group largesse but have ended up on the naughty step. Meanwhile we individuals will be benefiting from all sort of useful personal advantages - like reduced mobile phone roaming charges so that we are encouraged to keep out mobile devices switched on at all times to help our loved ones and keeper fully aware of our location and current wellbeing - especially those sharing their medical condition status with the world via Facebook. The rumours about an introduction of a pavement use tax are, surely, just rumours. Aren't they? Likewise the potential micro charge for every breath you take. (Plus the associated carbon tax of course. Unless you can prove zero emissions.) I note that they are going to introduce this now on April 1st. What a surprise. |

Give us a chance! My first reaction- Ye Gods, you'd have thought they would have learned from what has been going on over the border.........
So if their plans for an OBU in the cab happen, that would mean to travel the Euro historic race season one would need- Device for France, Spain and Portugal tolls. (As they are at moment) Device for Italian tolls. Device for Belgium tolls. Same for Germany, following Belgium's lead? And if it eventually happens, a device for French ECOtaxe to replace their current system. At least two requiring outside power supply, and at leat two a hefty deposit / bond.... And all the time a large percentage of E. European trucks will be ignoring them all and getting away with it! |

What I love about the EU is that it has become just one big happy nation all for one and one for all, etc. with no one commenting about "foreign trucks" when they are talking about their community sharing colleagues. No one at all. Such harmony. A joy to see. |

Changing the subject again, one of these has been clattering about these parts recently. God it looks strange when in level flight! Think it's a V-22 Osprey, based at Mildenhall apparently.... Design goes back to the 1980s!

Not possible I'm afraid mate. Management has a decorator in and I need to be around to babysit in case I have to pop out to get extra paint and stuff. Not really the best time to be doing this with a BH weekend in the middle of the planned work but it suddenly became an opportunity about 10 days ago so there we go. |

Iain, there could be another reason why you can now consume a whole Mallory brekkie- your capacity to do so has increased. One word- seatbelts! |
