The battle between Rosberg and Hamilton looks way too close for comfort in practice. This is Rosberg's "home race" and Hamilton wants nothing more than to stick it to rosberg at his "home race"...
Could this battle be even better than Malaysia? |

Nothing between Rosberg and Hamilton in either practice session. But Mercedes are not that much faster than this year's one-man Red Bull team. In fact it looks like the top 10 are all a lot closer today than they have been for the rest of the season.

Word is that the Renault's got a massive power boost with the engine update. "Felt like" 60-80 Hp according to Maldonado at the test session.

Raikkonen is looking racy early. Here's to hoping he takes things more seriously.

Probably creeped out by his constant happiness.
We all work with at least one grinning weirdo who wanders round every morning saying "SMILE, IT MIGHT NEVER HAPPEN1!!1!" at perfectly content people. I fear Daniel is that guy at Red Bull. |

Hamilton out from Q1. Hope he's ok. Brakes failed.

It never rains but it pours.
Seems the brakes locked. Awful luck if it's a mechanical failure rather than a mistake. From BBC online, Hamilton is in the med centre having his knees checked. |

Yup, I'm listening on the android app. Sounded nasty when he got on the radio.

so, FIA bans an all-important suspension system between GP's (FRIC), and suddenly we see a lot of brake balance issues.
should we be surprised? |

Nope, they have to go back to basic principles. Can't blame the FIA if the engineers can't deal with it. However the FIA shouldn't have dicked around at this stage of the championship. Smacks of manipulation.

Rosberg on pole, at his home GP followed by Bottas and Massa. Great job by the Williams duo.
What happened to Lewis? |

There we go Nico. Lets finish this deal on Sunday.
Hoping for a Mags podium. As far as Daniels dance, reminds me of a medieval scene with a jester trying to entertain a castle gate guard to no avail. |

Oh dear! Poor Lewis! He has his work cut out for tomorrow.
With the heat - I think that tyres could be an issue here. We might see some blowouts! That Williams seems quick here. I think that it might be able to keep Rosberg in check - at least that is a hope - so that we get a decent race for tomorrow. |
