Is that Malcolm's Allard as well? I think the 541 had a lot of money spent to get it race-able, but does seem a lot. The new built Plus 4 has been advertised on the vendor's website for £95K, which is probably what it cost to build, so a potential loss there.
Yes, Fulvias's are soooo pretty but Spit is one to watch...... |

Yes the Allard is Malcolm's, as is the Sting Ray (specially converted to RHD!) and the black MGB. Seems as though he's having a clearout

The Spitfire was up for sale a couple of years ago, asking £25K. I'd just bought the E-type or would have given it serious consideration. My son (bless) has a penchant for Spits and I've always hankered after a Lenham of some sort.
XK into 541 was an obvious mod in period but not without its problems due to the height of the motor . It was what the car should have had from the outset, not the lorry lump it was given. |

The engine transplant on my 541 had been done in the early '60s by the main Jaguar dealer in Edinburgh. The story was that they managed to talk Lofty England into supplying a brand new 150S engine even though he thought that it wouldn't really fit.
It looked so at home under the bonnet and of course just bolted straight onto the Moss gearbox already in the 541R. I had a DB4 Aston at the same time and the Jensen was so much better than the David Brown Tractor. Having owned one I can't understand what Mr. Bond sees in them......or the prices being paid for them. That one short period of ownership got me over Astons for good, although I'd probably prefer one of the Feltham cars. Conversely I've lived with XKs since my first one in 1974 and can't imagine being without one. |

Lot 329 got me - the Renault Dauphine Gordini, with its "slick gearchange"! I remember driving a Dauphine Gordini (on private ground) in 1966, before I'd got my licence....and to this day I've never driven aything with a more vague, rubbery change - you just had to vaguely prod the lever in the direction of the "H" that you wanted, and hope that you got a gear...

MSA Code
How do you find out what the MSA code is (I have a race license)? The ticket system won't accept my application without it....

Yes, it was printed in last mag you received. If you can't find it maybe a quick call to MSA. Don't have it to hand at moment otherwise would pm.

Well, after many years since my last visit, my lasting impression is that it's a shadow of its former self. However good to meet up with Mike (hope you passed the medical) and Chunterer (as we were leaving).
Chatting to Anders at Anglo American, he reckons 2012 was his best year yet. They're supporting more series/clubs this coming season which suggests that the show may not be reflective of the state of the sport. We'll see. |

Regarding UK motor sport industry, some interesting facts received before the show about how many related businesses had improved year financially in 2012. Definitely not all doom and gloom! As homeward train clanked and shuddered it's way past Brum airport there was a mid size airliner taxiing to runway. Could have sworn the 3 large letters on the side said 'FIA'....... |

Anders should have had a good year . . .as more and more people learn that using an ever decreasing quality of pump fuel is murdering tuned engines. He's running as much an iunsurance company as anything!

The RS1800 looked absolutely pristine from other side of fence. It even had correct single downdraft carb and air cleaner. Will go for a lot of money purely on rarity and condition, I suspect. Not actually that nice to drive..... XOO was too far away and time was short so didn't venture in. (That saved me a few quid for catalogue!) |
