BMW 316i compact problem
Hi,
I have an N Reg 316i compact, recently it's started occasionally kicking out of first gear as I set off from a standing start and if I travel at a constant 30 or 40, with a constant number of rev's the car feels like its accelerating and decelerating slightly. I have the clutch replaced recently but this doesn't seem to have fixed the problem. Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be or how to fix it. The gears all seem to change smoothly, there is no knocking or banging and the car rev's/accelerates smoothly. Would really appreciate any pointers Thanks |

Yes you definitely have a gearbox problem and apart from stripping it down and fitting a new hub at least ,the cheapest way to fix it would be to get a used box out of a known good runner.
This is not uncommon on a beemer but at least its a piece of cake to take the box out. Unless the gear lever or linkage is fouling something I'm afraid that's it . |
