2004 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship.

2004 TEN-TENTHS V8 SUPERCAR FANTASY CHAMPIONSHIP

It seems that Nigerian scam backfired – they really did leave an obscene amount of money in your bank account! After the five-star holiday, mansion, private jet, Ferrari, Porsche, HSV/FPV you decide that what you really need is a V8 Supercar Team.

1. Drivers

Once everything is up and running, you have $3,000,000 left to spend on drivers.
You may pick up to 4 drivers to pilot your cars at the following prices:

$2,000,000
Marcos Ambrose
Greg Murphy

$1,750,000
Jason Bright
Craig Lowndes
Steve Richards
Mark Skaife

$1,500,000
John Bowe
Russell Ingall
Rick Kelly
Todd Kelly
Paul Radisich
Garth Tander
Paul Weel

$1,250,000
Jason Bargwanna
Steve Ellery
Steve Johnson
Cameron McConville
Glenn Seton
Max Wilson

$1,000,000
Brad Jones
Tony Longhurst
Warren Luff
Paul Morris
Simon Wills
Mark Winterbottom

$750,000
Craig Baird
David Besnard
Paul Dumbrell
Mark Noske
Jason Richards

$500,000
Anthony Tratt
David Thexton
Dale Brede

* Since Team Dynamik haven’t got their act together yet in announcing their second driver, you can hire the famous TBA in their place. Once the announcement comes, TBA will be replaced by the appointed Dynamik driver. If the announcement never comes and there is no second driver, TBA will be removed from the list and you’ll get Simon Wills’ points at a discount price.

Endurance Drivers
Since you now have the ability to hire & fire your drivers (see below), you can also employ ‘once-a-year’ drivers for the enduros (up to the 4 driver/$3M limit).
Endurance co-drivers are valued at $250,000 less than the regular driver (but not less than $750,000).
eg. Jim Richards = Steve Richards - $250k =$1,500,000
If you’re not sure at the time, don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll put up a list of endurance driver prices later in the year anyway.

Other Drivers
If both enduro drivers are non-regulars, or if someone not mentioned above drives in one of the other rounds, they will be valued at $750,000.

2. Hiring & Firing

As Team Owner/Manager, you get to be more ruthless than John Briggs! You are permitted to sack any or all of your drivers in the lead-up to a round, and replace them - so long as you don’t blow the salary cap.
To sack/hire someone, post here expressing your disappointment in your ex-employee(s), and your hopes for your new driver(s).
You can do this twice during the season.

3. Other Things You Should Know As Team Owner:

- You don’t have to use all $3 million, but DO NOT GO OVER BUDGET OR I WILL GET ANGRY!!! The penalty for making me angry is public ridicule and disqualification from the round.
- A driver can be chosen by more than one team - these guys are consummate professionals and are able to drive 16 cars at once.
- Points are the same as the real series. Whatever a driver scores at each round in real life is what that driver will receive here, including penalties. Your worst round will not be dropped.
- Round results and championship standings will be posted in this very thread following the conclusion of each round.
- After the results have been posted, you can write press releases on your team’s performance (or lack of). Show us how good you are at distributing propaganda.

4. Team Announcements:

Once you’ve picked your driving line-up, give your team a name, announce some sponsors, racing numbers, liveries, grid girls, mascots, overseas technical partners and any other stuff you can think of, and of course your manufacturer of choice.
If this looks insanely complicated, don’t worry – it’s exactly the same as last year with a few tweaks to get around some problems.

To make it easy for me, could you please condense the propaganda into this sort of form somewhere in your press release:

<example>
Name: ANGER MANAGEMENT RACING
Sponsor(s): BLACK FLAG FLY SPRAY
Drivers:
#2 RUSSELL INGALL
#9 MARK SKAIFE
Manufacturer: FORD

Entries are open as of now, so start issuing those press releases!
Your team can be altered without penalty until March 17.
Comments are more than welcome, either here or via PM.

May the Fords be with you (or against you as the case may be),

About time I announced my team:

-------------------------------
TEAM FEROX RACING PRESS RELEASE
Wellington, New Zealand
March 1 2004

It is with great delight that the Ferox Auto Racing Co-operative Empire (FARCE) announces that we have returned to continue our domination of the V8Supercar Fantasy Championship. The tools of our success this year will be 3 VY Commodores, all of which carry backing from Caterpillar, who were kind enough to give us access to their bank vault.
Racing under the banner of Team Ferox Racing, the three VY Commodores will be driven two-time World Touring Car Champion Paul Radisich (Car #1), former factory Holden driver Mark Noske (Car #50), and multiple New Zealand Touring Car Champion Jason Richards (Car #51).
General Manager for Motorsport in the Asia Pacific region, Ruwan Mahmood, says that Team Ferox are here to win.
"FARCE has a long and proud history of shattering the dreams of other teams, and we feel it is our obligation to do so again."
Paul and Jason were both ecstatic to be back on this side of the ditch, citing a lack of Aussies as the main motivating factor in their move. Mark was unavailable for comment as he was out shopping for thermals.
The team will once again be led by celebrated Russian Crew Chief Zereny Kashlevtova, and will begin the defence of its title at the Clipsal 500 on March 18.

Archer Racing Press Release

After a lack lustre season last year, Archer Racing today announced its 2004 driver line-up. Team Principal Archer released Greg Murphy of duties earlier this week due budgetary problems and it looked like Archer Racing may have only been fielding one car this year for Simon Wills. That was until Archers Private Corporation made millions in intellectual property overnight. Now having secured the services of Tony Longhurst and rookie Warren Luff, Archer Racing will now field three Holden VY Commodores to hit the track at Albert Park in a weeks time.

NAME: Archer Racing
SPONSOR(S): Archer Enterprises
DRIVERS:
#17 Tony Longhurst
#7 Simon Wills

R & R Racing are excited to announce the signing of Russell Ingall and Rick Kelly. R & R (as we like to call Russell and Rick) will be fresh for the new season with R & R Racing after some R & R over the Summer break.

In keeping with the farcicle numbering system of late, we have decided to take a vigilant stand against rules in general and introduce motorsport to decimilisation...

R & R Racing are currently seeking two endurance drivers to partner R & R at B & S (Bathurst and Sandown) and would like anybody whose name begins with R to step forward...

STOP PRESS: You can depend on Henry's Heroes!
Team Henry have this morning unveiled their V8 Supercar programme for 2004, revealing their 2 Falcon BA racecars, their new sponsors and their top-notch driver line-up. New-to-V8-Supercar-sponsors Depend incontinence undergarments and Huggies nappies have joined VB as the name behind the names in Henry's heroes this season. After securing multiple Champion Craig Lowndes, and Ford stalwart Steven "Junior" Johnson, the team showed their outfit to assembled media and fans, who not only got stuck right into the little green bottles, but due to the efforts of the others sponsors, didn't have to leave the room at all during the soiree.

Craig Lowndes: "When Henry approached me with the deal for this season, I was certain he was taking the p!ss. He sold me on the idea once he not only confirmed that he indeed was taking the p!ss, but also locking it away in his Dependable super-absorbent middle layer, leaving me fresh and dry to keep driving at 10/10ths through the whole season! How can I lose?"

Steve Johnson: "I'm excited to be a part of Henry's efforts this season. I've spent the off-season testing the sponsor's products to destruction in all sorts of arduous conditions, and I'm going all out to win this year"

TEAM: Henry's Heroes
SPONSORS: Victoria Bitter, Depend, Huggies
CAR: Ford Falcon BA
DRIVERS: #6 Craig Lowndes
#17 Steven Johnson

Woodbine Racing regretfully announce that due to funding problems the TBA has had to withdraw from the #666 car. He will be replaced by Dale Brede for the rest of the season (or until we fire him).

Team Principal woodbine was quoted as saying "We are very disappointed to lose TBA as being a phantom driver we were hoping that he could pass people without them noticing. The team is however very excited with the signing of Dale as he brings a lot (of $) to the team.
