LOLA t610s in australia

Hey Guys,

Trying to track down the damage history on the Terry Hook lola t610 whilst running in Australia. Was there any races where the car required a lot of work to the tub ect...

From my research he had a fairly decent bingle at amaroo park.

Anyhow, I'd be extremely grateful for any info.

Thanks, Liam

Yes Terry had a pretty big prang at Amaroo park in saturday practice i think it would have been around 88.I recall the car had only done a handful of meetings after another prang at Amaroo after a coming together with John Bowe a year or so earlier.
I remember picking up the the old floorpan from the airport and taking it down to a yacht builder at Narabeen to build new one.i think this was the first occasion.I can find out more details.

That would be great, what sort of tub damage was there after that prang?

Profi,
I was flicking a mag last night that discussed Terry having to be cut from the car (also had a pic) at a meeting at lakeside (I think it was). I'll check again, see if I can scan the pic and post here tomorrow or the weekend...........

Profi - as discussed.

Quoted from Racing Car News: July/Aug 1981 The 20 years Edition 1961-1981 - Volume 1, Number 1 and 2

Des White report of the Lakeside meeting (meeting hosted the final round of the Touring Car Championship)

In an earlier race, the feature racing event saw Terry Hook in the Lola beat Ivan Tighe (Chevron) and Ian Bland (Cheetah) - an 8 lap race. Hook scored fastest lap of 53.4.

"RaceAbandoned"

"The cars returned for a short one late in the day, and Bruce Allison returned to his former CHevron, by courtesy of Ivan Tighe. Allison was set to enjoy his first race in three years and as both cars left the grid one could sence trouble.

Hook got a little twitchy under power and both eased off a fraction to avoid a side swipe, then the power was on again, both side by side in the Elbow. They might have touched, possibly did not, but Hook had nowhere to go, putting the Lola on teh inside gravel. The big car regained the bitumen and teh great hit of power shot him across the track and into the bank of old tyres. Hook once again had to be cut from the wreckage. The race was abandoned."

The following photo by Brier Thomas was included in the report:

"Tery Hook's Lola. The race was abandoned. Hook suffered a broken leg and had to be cut out of the car"
