TRS (Essex) Ltd Brands Hatch Stages - 30th January 2011

Following extensive negotiations Chelmsford Motor Club have successfully secured Brands Hatch for a stage rally in 2011.

Sunday 30th January 2011 will be the first running of the TRS (Essex) Ltd Brands Hatch Stages. We anticipate approximately 50 all tarmac stage miles for an entry fee around £250. In addition to the Indy circuit, the surrounding access roads will be used, which should make the stages varied and interesting.

We would like to guage likely competitor interest before we part with a sizeable deposit as a minimum of 60 crews are needed to make it financially viable.

If you are interested in competing, marshalling or are just interested, could you please pre register by posting on here or by following this link,

Sounds interesting I'll consult my driver.......

It'll be good to have a rally that doesn't involve a huge drive to get to!

Apologies as I'm neither a driver nor a marshall, but I do fall into the "interested" category - it would be great to see a local rally event, so fingers crossed this happens!

Judging by the response you shouldn't have a problem filling the entry

Copperbottom has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Hmm,if I had a suitable car I'd be up for it.Will probably come and spectate or even marshall, mind you Goodwood's usually the 1st week in Feb,two so close together may cause low entries

Good news - but what I don't get about this is if a regional motor club can afford to run a stage rally at Brands why can't the MSA rallycross championship afford to hold a rallycross meeting at Brands?

Is it that rallycross is charged a lot more - or have Brands cut their circuit hire prices?

Rallycross at Brands always got a massive entry (as far as I remember) and a large number of PAYING spectators. Probably the biggest domestic crowd puller outside the BTCC or GT racing...

To run rally cross at Brands now will take a lot of work. And to be honest with the state of rally cross in the UK at the moment I am not sure I would invest a lot of money in it.

Well said flagwaver, althought I a true fan, the series need to get back to basics and sort itself out. They cannot comand big enough crowds on their own to deservce a place like Brands, so getting house in order is best bet.

Rally is fine, they can use a lot of the areas of the track that the rally school do or used to use

Thanks Andrew, will email you shortly.

The response so far has been really positive. A draft stage diagram is available in the latest issue of Motorsport News.

Great to hear this is looking likely to happen. Perhaps too early to say, but will spectating be from set areas only, or will people be free to view from wherever they choose to on the stage?

Answer re spectating:

Quote:
There will not be 'set areas' as such but there will be areas where spectators will not be allowed as it will not be safe.

I'll be there, seems rude not too! Never been to a rally befre either and knowing the Brands access roads as i do, could be some interesting moments! Especially if the bridge and gate combo by the medical centre is used....

No real updates, regs and entries should be out in around two weeks time. I'll post here when they are!
