www.ring1.de usually has some good videos as well, but it'll take some time until those are online.

Thanks for that.

It's funny looking at the results. They took 4 hours to do just 27 laps. What a unique track.

I hope what you say about BMW is not true, Acid. If they explode at the 24 hours and run away from it because noone realizes they were sandbagging until then, it would be a shame as we'd lose a good race.

To think that Peugeot's sandbagging and crappy rules prevented Lamy from the possibility of winning Sebring, Nurburgring, Le Mans and PLM in the same year... Not that I want Peugeot to win.

That's what leads me to believe they´re majorly sandbagging until the 24h race in order to not risk getting their performance cut. The majority of competitors race in SP9 (the class for FIA GT3 cars) and they would probably be outraged should the BMWs have a clear advantage.

So take BMWs performance with a big grain of salt, they will be there when it counts.
I'm confused - the results link posted says the BMW did 8:22 best lap, as did one of the Audis and that the first and second cars only did 8:26 best laps?

Thanks for the photos!

Love the grid girls haha!

That Honda S2000 is a nice looking machine, at least from the back. The BMW looks even more tweaked in GT3, it seems.

The Z4 looks good in grey.
I couldn't find the Hybrid 740? Was looking for the Manthey colors and I seemed to have missed it?

Gotta love the VLN. Only place you see a Mercedes 190E, Mini Cooper, and Porsche racing against each other.

According to the "traitors facebook page" Nissan are running a factory 370z at the Nurburgring 24hrs. Anyone know if this is the same 370z that was raced at last year's event?

Any idea what class it's in? From the articles on the net:

"eugeot is fitting them with a new aerodynamic kit, but otherwise the vehicle will have the same standard components, or components from the Peugeot Sport range. Celebrating 200 years of Peugeot, this Peugeot RCZ is called 200 Ans and is equipped with the 2.0-litre HDI FAP engine with 200 hp, compared to the 163 hp on the series version."

It sounds very production-like.

And any news about Aston Martin? Have they dropped the Vantage V8 and V12 programs? They didn't appear at the first round of the VLN.

Aston are suppossed to run a close to production spec Rapide this year and (rumor has it) a factory backed DBRS9, perhaps run by Hexis.

The Peugeot would be in the D(iesel) 2 (over 2 litres) T(urbo) category. Last year there was but one car in that class, a Toyota Auris.

They're going to run a 4 door car? Is is the same team/guys that ran the Vantage V8s, Betz, Porritt, etc?

So I guess the Aston and the Peugeot are in there for some good long testing of the cars. Probably they want to win their classes, of course, but it doesn't look like they'll be at the top.

I am - so far - not really a fan of the road version, but this looks splendid.

That looks alright but I'm interested to see how it does in 24hrs around the ring, seeing how big and heavy it will be. How about Manthey enter a Panamera just to spice things up a bit?

Seeing as though GT3 is becoming more the front running class (with the exception of the M3 GT2) I hope AMR/Hexis etc enter a factory backed DBSR9 like they have done in the past it looked awesome in matte black.

Entry-List Round 2

209 cars, but no Abt Audi R8s (busy in GT-Masters), just one M3 GTR (drivers busy in LMS) and no Viper (busy in a club event at Hockenheim).

No Aston GT3. AFAIK GT3 cars have to do 2 VLN rounds before the 24 in order to allow for a "fair" balance of performance. So if they don't show up on Saturday, there might be none in the 24.
Same goes for the rumored Lotus Evoras in GT4/SP10.

But on the other hand, we get a Ginetta G50, 2 gas powered VW Sciroccos & several "BMW Mini" + 1 "Mini Cooper".

12 GT3
5 GT4
7 SP8
2 SP8T
7 SP7
9 SP6
14 Porsche cup
3 E1XP

That alone would make for an interesting race normally

For sure.

I am just trying to rationalize for myself that it is a good thing not to go this weekend, but rather make the 300km drive up there for the 3rd round... lol.

Gonna kick myself for not going all Saturday.

Not long ago, the spectacular Presented AMG Mercedes SLS GT3 Intended to Participate in 2011 at the FIA GT3 European Championship gold the ADAC GT Masters. Second time. They already did the first round - weren't on the entry list, though, I think - and didn't finish. Almost rear-ended the tow-vehicle on the downhill section at Brünnchen...

Live timing not working, but getting good updstes from the ticker & twitter messages from vln_swticker.
+ I suppose it might help my german trying to understand what the radio guys are saying (before they start playing the bad pop music).

speed_king (or any other german speaker) - on the ticker, what does "td" mean:
"#489 TD Breitscheid"?

I can figure out most of the words, but is this an abreviation?
