Any news on the entry list for the Masters Festival at Brands Hatch this coming weekend? Perhaps Randy has details?

it was very wet, but still brilliant.I dunno anything thats quite as mad as Gp c cars.I know narrow tired cars are more slithery & probably harder to drive but i dunno theres something about them 900hp missiles...
And im not alone in that .All the spectators expression changed from damp resignation to something aproaching awe as they thundered round in the rain .Intense. I missed it when it was current as it was formula porsche for most of the time & when it got interesting bernie killed it off, b4 i could get with it..(& why is GT 90 an FIA championship but not gp c I wonder...?...?) So i feel very lucky to be able to watch these cars now. A big thanks to all you nutters in the gp c club who race them. Now a quick q. My first post , and i havent read the whole of this thread(yet) but lap times, comparative to today? historic gp c laps silverstone in 1.35(classic gp) to the current GT1 1.43(full gp) take in curciut differences call it 1.37 on Gp. Now at brands the 80's works teams were running bout 6 secs quicker than the historics are now.. so lets presumbe they'd be 8 secs quicker had they ran at silverstone . Thats 1.29/30.Thats only 10 secs slower than a current F1 car? wild. And we know that turbo group c cars were about 8 secs slower than f1 at the time(6 at brands) so that means 1980s f1 was only 2/3 secs a lap slower than current f1?? have I got this all a bit wrong or what? But the question is weather pre atmo( atmo not realy gp c at all) cars are quicker than the current crop of prototypes. The answers gotta be pretty close (corvettes finish 4th at LM one would expect a gp c car in the top 3 then...) this type of thing keeps me awake at night .Sad or?? when i find where the avatars are i'll post again with other conunderums also... you should all be at Goodwood next weekend where we get to see as well as everything else(it realy IS brilliant...) 25 gp c cars..then theres silverstone in july.cant wait. BTW this is avery interesting forum, drivers, marshalls fans of all motorsport.Nice cheers Last edited by CUT 7; 17 Jun 2007 at 11:38. |
