johnh875 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi guys, I have gone through some of the photos, about 60% through. I should get them finished over the weekend. Bullet I do have a photo of the 2002 (v. nice car too btw). I’m not sure what happened to Tony Hubbard’s Camaro, I understand he ran into the back of someone in a racing incident / unavoidable accident.

Geoff, I would say Winton is worse than most for track time & number of races because they have almost all the possible historic classes there with the bikes on top of that. There was a comment in one of the UK event threads about being a packed card with 18 or so races – this had 28! Robert, Tassie is good but you can’t take a Ralt RT4 for a weekend blast can you? Even for the regularity drivers, you can push harder than on the road plus the problem of idiots coming the other way is not there.

Not sure I could get enough ground clearance......without considering what the local constabulary thought of it all.

Now where are the spanners and that ruler again......

Has a fair bit to do with it. Something to be said for an extra 50hp and a heap more torque. But also at Winton the performance advantages (high speed grip) of the later model car are some what neutralised and the advantages of earlier Group Q cars (generally softer settings) amplified.

I look forward to seeing what you have. Might some more evidence of that wing bending incident at turn one between two certain forum posters.....

No we run exactly the same tyres front and rear on the Ralt as Peter/Jamie have on the Chevron.

There are 3 RT4's for sale in Australia as I know it. The PYE car (driven by Bap Romano in period) owned by Richard Carter, two others, one late model (US history I think) and one early model (81) with unspecified Australian history. My105.com.au did have listings for all of them.

Geoff covered the performance aspects well, the other consideration is they are about 50kg lighter.Horse power difference would be around 70 BHP,but its the torque that gets the cars much quicker on the tight tracks.Pete

Don't really know to be honest. He has a new Elfin 600B , but not sure that is the driver of the decision to sell the Ralt, then again you can really only drive one at a time.

He hasn't had the car all that long to be honest.

Such a pity it is the short track. Would love to have been competing on the GP track. So instead I have to stay home....2 short tracks in two weeks is too many.

Johnny - look at the write-up on the Austin 7 club page - http://www.austin7club.org/2007%20Ke...mula%20One.pdf, a shame the Climax 2.5 V8 did not go ahead who knows how things would have been different?

Geoff - no photos at turn 1 except a couple of one of the bike races. We had parked around near the sweeper but I spent most of the time near the esses.

Ok, the photos are now online - the gallery is HERE. Note that the hot-linked pictures below will probably go over quota and disappear, if so just go to the gallery directly.

Better look after the forumites first - here is Geoff's car going through the Esses

And Pete Brennan's

Nc car 23 as requested by Bullett - Bill Cutler's 2002

The traditional Mustang-and-swarm-of-Minis; this was in the handicap race

Robert Braune's Charger was by far and away the fastest Nc car there

This was listed as a 1973 911 Carrera RS, so I presume it is a real one?

As usual there was some real variety in the Regularity, here we have an MG, Vauxhall 30/98, Alvis, Oaklands and an ex-speedway Ford

While at the other end of the age spectrum (for the Regularity) were the Corvette-engined Bocar and a D-Type replica

A few more random cars - here is a fantastic supercharged SS Jaguar

I am intrigued by the shape of the grille in the WPC Monoposto special. It is another of the more-recently constructed group L cars, with 4000cc so perhaps a Chrysler or Dodge motor.

This 1930 Ford special has a fairly ungainly stance!

I'm not sure if it was dropped to make up time or not, but there was supposed to be a parade of Delages to mark the 80th anniversary of their world championship win. One ran in the regularity at least and there were another four on display in the carpark.

As you may have noticed I messed up the link in post #40 and its too late now to edit it - so HERE it is... probably the most important part really.

The photos are organised chronologically this time, ie in order of races when they happened (and when I was walking through the pits and carpark) - not sure if this is a better way than just listing by marque?

Hi Guys,

Any pics of the historic Formula Fords? I've recently purchased an Elfin 600 FF and am here because of Rob Bailey.

Cheers,

Warren
