Garry Holmes should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Britcar Silverstone

Anyone at Silverstone for Britcar over the weekend? What were the grids like, according to the website Britcar, S1 & the Goldarts all had 20+ runners. Did everyone show.?

I was on the Stowe circuit for a School meeting & could see the cars on the Int circuit & must say the numbers looked small, not only for the Brit Cars but also the 2 support races. Once we'd finished I landed up as IO @ Abbey inside & saw an F40 destroyed and in a different incident a 911 badly damaged.
I was impressed with the Astra from the DTM, although I think the brakes had been left in Germany!

That starting grids were fine, the finishing positions leave a lot to be desired.
If the cars are supposed to make it 24hr's then they have some more work to do.

too many retirements...

The grid should be huge for the 24hrs-I'm sure we will all have something to watch though I can't say that spectating would be as exciting as either marshalling or taking the pictures. Answer is if your a spectator then join the BRSCC or someone and get marshalling!

I wouldn't say grids were to bad for the start of the season. All the Races managed to get 20 + cars.Alot of cars were still being worked on like the falcon v8 which was still at the docks and the vette was not built till the sat afternoon so couldn't make it.Grids will pick up as more cars are readied over the next couple of round.

Johndpeat,
Any news on how the marshalling teams are going to be sorted out for the 24hr? I heard talk that it'll be done in sectors (marshals staying in one section) rather than the Snetterton 2CV 24hr style of rotating around the circuit.

I hope we are posted and stay in the same position.

While i agree it would be nice to see other parts of the circuit being raced at night, but if i'm on the same post all day, i can set my caravan up and have proper cooking and a decent fridge etc...

I suspect you will need to speak to the BRSCC regarding marshalling rotas etc as they are the organising club.

whilst it is nice to stay on one post all weekend, I can imagine if someone got put on the Silverstone equivalent of the Revett Straight all weeked, they might be more than tempted to do one shift - then go home!

I was at the Britcar and found it interesting for an event at the start of the season. I have worked on the 24hr 2cv race and found moving post well organised and gave added interest although some marshals did not turn up as expected???
I would have thought that using a similar rota method could be adopted at Silverstone.
However I suggest the main point is that Marshals volunteer in good time and that they turn up on the day.

Please note it was just what I had heard and not gospel truth. And from what I had heard it was "a sector" not "a post". How big your sector is I suppose depends on the numbers available, but even if the GP circuit was split into four sectors (or three sectors as done for F1 splits) you'd still get a choice of posts to work.

Whatever way, should still be great fun.

It will be interesting for marshals out on the Grand Prix part of the circuit, most of us drivers will be stopping every lap to ask for directions !!!!!!
