Andy Metcalf should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
BTCC Masters Race at Donington Park

The BTCC Masters Race at Donington Park is set to quite an event and many familiar names have already signed up for th big race. But who would you like to see line up on the grid and who do you think will win?

I think Matt Neal should be in the race because of his multiple Independents Trophies and for being the first Indy to win a race outright.

As for who will win, well with the likes of Menu, Plato, Harvey and Cleland to name a few it might be too close to call but I am tempted to say Menu after his Porsche drive at Oulton Park.

I think it will depend very much on who does and who doesn't get to settle old scores before the end of the race. Rumour at Brands for BTCC meeting was that SEAT are not expecting any cars to come back in a usable state

If thats the case you kinda wonder if they'll even consider letting them race if they're gonna throw away hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of machinary just to settle an old score! Expensive, but well worth watching!

Here's who confirmed so far.
(there are 5 places left, and Muller and Thompson are not allowed by VXR apparently)
John Cleland,
Robb Gravett,
Tim Harvey,
Alain Menu,
Jason Plato
Gabriele Tarquini,
Paul Radisich
Jeff Allam,
Julian Bailey,
Frank Biela,
Kelvin Burt,
Frank Sytner
Patrick Watts

I think Rickard Rydell, Laurent Aiello, Joachim Winkelhock, Anthony Reid and Steve Soper , maybe David Leslie as a substitute

Rydell isn't allowed to do it because he has a prior engagement with SEAT in Sweden.

Steve Soper isn't allowed to drive because the doctor won't let him.

Mike Smith? Chris Hodgetts? Leslie, Winkelhock, Reid and Aiello must've been asked - hopefully they can be persuaded to take part.

True but he was a Master. I reckon He'd be good at going toe to toe with the likes of menu and surviving.

It's a bit of a lottery but who do you think the main contenders will be?

Soper isn't racing because his accident at Brands in 2001 has put his back in a state of perminant fragility. Doctors Orders.

Phone Winkelhock, tell him theres 20 Rothmans in it for him.

Yes.

For some reason I was talking about Winkelhock, not Soper.

Will we see James Thompson is one of the remaining cars? Now that he has confirmed his departure from VX he won't have anything to lose by joining in. He deserves to be there and I hope we get to see him racing all the other "Masters".
