Its a Brazilian serie running as support serie for Stock Car V8 and is called CTM 2000.

those are pretty bad, and the greenhouse rules for the daytona prototypes did lead to some less than sexy cars. but the basic riley DP chassis was fitted with new bodywork in the form of the shidden mooncraft, and look how attractive that thing is.
the rules at this time are being bargained over, and we won't know until september or so what the actors involved actually agree upon. it would be interesting if the current GT1 cars were allowed in with room for hot-rodding. that would certainly provide some instant car count for the class. at the same time, and this has been touched on (negatively) in other threads, the Super GT series was supposed to be in talks with the FIA and ACO about moving closer to the other global sports car series. would a class which allowed more conservative looking prototypes and hot-rodded GT1's be a compromise allowing GT500 cars the ability to compete, without Super GT having to upset rules stability? it would probably lead to slower than current cars, but not by too much, and top-class laptimes aren't really a major issue anyway (how many people really care if the overall pole at le mans was a 3:40 instead of a sub 3:30? how many could tell without a stopwatch?)... |
