Female rallycross drivers.

Watching Michelle Mouton video earlier got me thinking how good it would have been to have seen her try rallycross, fantastic driver. As I'm on the subject I'll name a few female's that have raced in rallycross over the years that I can think of.

Sue Jeffery, Shelley Wakeling, Samantha Thom, Paige Bellerby,Jess Gwynne, Tina Cooper, Suzi Brailsford, Tina Pinder, Pauline Hale, Mandie August,
Susan Bergval(Hansen).

Name any more?

There was the so-called Swedish 'Sparrman Ladies Cup' in Rallycross of the early 1980s. The Swedish ASN had given out more than 50 licences to women for this series. In my RX Yearbook 1982 there is a story on the Cup called "For Ladies Only".

Grace Ließfeld (Opel Manta) in Germany and Tineke de Poorter (Fiat Coupé 4x4) in Holland were doing RX over a couple of years.

The wife of Nick Jesty did some RX events, innit Struggie?

In my RX Yearbook of 1980 there is one page for RX women showing the faces of Utta Clausen and Alice Schnellbügel from Germany, Diane Van Camp and Krist Be Haegel from Belgium and Monica Andersson from Sweden. And in my RX Yearbook of 1979 there is a portrait of Belgian Christine Beckers, better known as "Christine" for doing the 1977 24h of Le Mans together with the late Italian lady racer Lella Lombardi (AFAIK they finished 11th overall).

@ Barrie: Some months ago there was somewhere in the www a site with a list of women doing or having done RX. IIRC the list was far from being complete and done by a French girl.

And last year the US Rally ladies Erika Detota and Kristin Chute (aka Kristin Chute Przybysz) were doing RX events at the New Jersey Motorsports Park.

German-Swedish Kerstin Hellström and Belgian Ilse Vereeken (daughter of Kamiel Vereeken) did RX in the 1400cc class.

No idea! Last time I met Nick was 15+ years ago. In the days of URDA. Perhaps Shirley Gibson will know.
