Chris Hobson should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Kop Hillclimb Sept 24/25 2011

Here we go again! Probably the friendliest, easiest going meeting of the year. Guaranteed lunch breaks, lunch packs and the grateful thanks of all the entrants.

Kop Hill near Princes Risborough Buckinghamshire, has been a speed hill climb for motorcycles and motorcars since 1910, but was closed in 1925 when a student lost control of his Bugatti and went into the crowd, signalling the end of closed roads racing in this country.

On Saturday, 24th and Sunday, 25th September 2011 there will be the third revival meeting. The event will not be a timed speed hill climb but rather a commemorative run to recall Kop Hill's glorious past. A sort of mini-Goodwood on closed public roads! Last year we have over 8,000 spectators over the two days and raised over £30,000 for local charities.

This year we are expecting the complete Ecurie Ecosse team with a couple of famous guest drivers, along with a whole host of fascinating machinery.

The organisers have already closed the entry list with 350 motorcycles and motorcars taking to the hill over the weekend, (about 200 each day), the majority of which will be Veteran or Vintage that could have taken part in the early days of the run, but with vehicles up to 1972 plus a class for modern exotics.

I am organising all the marshalling and will be acting as Clerk of the Course. I am again looking for a full team to run the event. Details are here:-

http://www.kophillclimb.org.uk/. Some superb photos frm last year should get your interest http://vintageman.zenfolio.com/p945886678

It should be a really good weekend - if you can help please contact me as shown below. Please title your e-mail 'Kop Hillclimb' and let me know if you would like to work in the paddock or on the hill. I look forward to a deluge of replies! Those who did the event over the last two years will tell you just how superb it was.

Oh yes!

Where else can you see an old sidecar running up the hill - gramps on the bike and a hugely grinning nipper waving from the sidecar? It pretty much sums up the atmosphere of the event when the local fire brigade nip up the hill at lunchtime too

If you ever get bored looking at the machinery, you can always try to count all of the buzzards and red kites waiting to pick our bones . . .

See you there again folks.

Sorry guys but I have had to with-draw my availability due to an oversight.

Have a good time, maybe next year.

Bob will get you sorted out on Saturday, so that I can cope with you on Sunday Any trouble from you and you'll get to walk to post both days

Looking forward to this as usual, especially trying to spot who the paddock ladies get to blag lifts off this year. Who's in charge of the weather this time?

I'm doing the best I can to encourage good weather - I've Dubbined my boots, cleaned and inspected the waterproofs, put a spare set of waterproofs in the car, I might even remove the suntan cream from the box......

Really looking forward to my first Kop, it looks a great set-up.

the kophill faceache page is showing some rather interesting "special guests" - suspect they'll be slipping names out every few days to keep the hype rolling, but JK and some of his kit is promised, plus a charity (old?) bus taking speccies up the hill in the lunch breaks.

Ducati Desmocedici for the bike fans

All I am going to say is... that veteran car we pushed up the steepest bit both days is heavier than it looks isn't it chaps?

Oh I don't know - it looked pretty heavy from where I was

Great meeting, definitely "different" and one I will be doing again next year.

Definitely getting better every year.

Now what about giving Whizzo the keys to the Koenigsegg next year?

I am pleased to say we have had nothing but praise from everyone involved including quotes such as "Better than Goodwood"!

When all comments have been received I will forward them to the team members.

My thanks to all the team - job well done - here's to 2012
