I didn't know NASCAR had such series. Was it replaced by Busch series or Truck series?

Moonshine was kinda responsible for the beginnings of nascar. moonshine runners would haul the illegal liquor and outrun the revuenoors. The best drivers came from moonshine running in the early days

Crikey, sheltered life?

Moonshine = illegally distilled alcohol, often made in lashed up equipment that sometimes explodes when not looked after properly. Alcohol content varies - typically 60-80%!!

Other variations include Potcheen (various spellings) from Ireland.

I am not sure if 200 gallons of cold medicine would be enough to get me through the cold N.C. winter.

Caught brewing moonshine in the shadow of the legendary North Wilkesboro track - that's so cool - you just couldn't make it up!

Anyone know if the track is still operating at any level? I know it was mothballed a few years ago.

The track is in sad shape. I drive by it a few times a year and have taken some photos. My newxt time by I will have to take Speedway Road and actually go to the track.

I thought Combs comment was funny: "I guess I gave someone a quart I shouldn't have."

An acquaintenance of mine has a friend that has a quart of Combs moonshine. I was told that it is first rate stuff. Combs, as I am sure most of you know, was crew chief for Junior Johnson who also lives in that area.

Junior Johnson is making a special label Moonshine for the Bristol Track. Junior's "Legal" Moonshine Distillery is only about 15 to 20 miles from where I live.

"Bristol Motor Speedway has partnered with Piedmont Distillers, Inc. and its Junior Johnson’s Midnight Moon moonshine brand to introduce a new signature drink named, “Thunder Valley...

You just couldn't make it up...

No doubt they'll throw the book at him, in these tax-revenue-driven times, no-one has a sense of humour... they'll never see the irony of it!
