Anglesey BRSCC 24th - 25th September

Hi Everyone,

I am looking to make my first trip to Anglesey for the BRSCC meeting later this month, and very much looking forward to it. I have a few questions though if you don't mind...

I am coming across with my Girlfriend and so am only available to marshal on one of the days (Sunday) as we want to go and see some of the area on the other day. We are planning on camping and so were wondering if it would be a problem if we came across on Friday night and camped, went off for the day, camped on Saturday night and then I marshalled on Sunday.

Also, are there any other special considerations for marshalling at Trac Mon? Sorry if this seems like a silly question, but I have only really marshalled at Oulton and am new to it all this year.

Thanks

Ben

First of all let the chief marshal know that you cant marshal on the Saturday. Details of the chief marshal will be in the covering letter that accompanys the tickets. You should receive it a few days before the event.

For camping use the grass area on the right just after you enter the inner gate. It is between the old medical centre and the rear of the bar. As its Anglesey and we do get the odd gust of wind or two!!! then its worth taking some decent tent pegs, not the meat skewer type.

Be prepared to do jobs above your normal grade as we are sometimes short of marshals. We have had green badges running posts in the past.

Could I suggest, unless you've already made plans for the "day off", that you marshal on the Saturday rather than the Sunday?

The reason for this is that there's a meeting at Oulton on the Saturday, so it's likely that a few people will be doing that & then doing Anglesey on the Sunday, which means that numbers at Anglesey will probably be lower for Saturday than for Sunday.

Another bit of advice is to make sure you pitch your tent as close to a solid object IE the cafe bar to help protect against the wind

Or make your tent a solid object, such as a car!

Well, I have volunteered for the Saturday now, so I can now get excited and look forward to my first trip there.
Who do I have to sweet talk to be put on one of the most stunning posts... Rocket or Corkscrew I believe are worth marshalling at?

All Anglesey posts are worth marshalling at! However, requests for a specific post should be written on the back of a £20 note. . .

I can do that, and then I shall be sure to hold it up to the person allocating so that they can clearly see what is written on it before placing it back in my pocket...

As has been said, take decent tent pegs. The ground is really hard with lots of rubble just below the surface so the usual ones will simply bend. I have some rock pegs, which are basically six inch nails with a t bar on the top.

Also, take plenty of warm clothing. Anglesey can be extremely cold and wet.

Any post with Mr Kelly, Mr Brand or Aitch on is likely to be "interesting". Trouble follows them around! Banking is good but you only see a small part of the track; Rocket is usually very busy and has excellent views of most of the circuit. Church and School are mainly quieter but are very good if you want to practice your flagging because you get a good view of the cars approaching and can judge closing speeds.

If you want your girlfriend to be able to come and talk to you Peel or Banking are probably best.

Wherever you are you'll enjoy Anglesey.

I'll add Rocket out for visits from the public too, as they have opened up the viewing from behind the post, awesome views across the bay and great viewing of the circuit and the usual mayhem at Rocket in too!
Have a great time folks, sorry I cant make it. See some of you all at the Britcar 24Hr
