I really hope this is what we end up with as I currently watch on delay anyway so I can skip through the commercials and fluff.

So does this mean that the V8 round at the Aussie GP will still be a non-championship round again next year ? I believe that Ten has the rights for F1 until the end of the 2015 season.

Channel 10 had the Tv rights to the F1 and V8s together between 2003 and 2006 without V8s being a championship round at the AGP. Why is it anymore likely in 2015 compared to 2003? |

I would say a lot of teams would prefer it to remain as is. Given the testing restrictions, the AGP is as good a place as any to trial the latest go-fast bits.

Good point, If the teams aren't going to be allowed to get new tyres especially for the test due to "cost containment" maybe they should be allowed to share the AGP tyres with those from the test.

I believe it was more a reluctance of V8s to run a championship round without proper pit facilities and short race formats - among other reasons. It seems there's more enthusiasm for it to happen now among the teams and executive. They have their own pits now, so if they can agree on a format then it might happen. |

back then the story was it was all about not having the national series as championship scoring event.
obviusly that has changed now as we see events like that often at F1 rounds. But maybe it was just a story we were told |

that doesn't explain the farce of Abu Dhabi, 3x 3 lap races (or so it seemed) and drivers not getting access to the (empty) grandstands for the F1 |

To be fair that is what V8SA signed up for and I would suggest not too different when the shoe is on the other foot at V8SA meetings.

Plenty of F1 events around the world (and in Australia) back then had support races that counted for national titles

Could it be because CAMS still hold a grudge against the original AVESCO set-up and they have some power or authority within the AGP office?
Political sport sanctioning bodies can have incredibly lllllllllll-oooooooooo-nnnnnnnnnn-gggggggggg memories on seemingly trivial matters. |

I do wonder whether the start time of the Bathurst 1000 will be further pushed back next year so as to fit in the Andrew Bolt hour. |

Speedcafe are reporting details of the new TV deal. Only 6 events live on One / 10 and the rest in 1 hour highlights packages shown at 8:30pm and 11pm the same day.

Looks like Mr Mckay's story from a few months back was right on the money.
Interesting that there is no mention of Speed. Very brave move to have so relatively little live product on free-to-air. I know the cash on offer was substantial, but Foxtel doesn't have 'that' big a market share in Australia. How will the Sunday highlights work with International races? Will they have to be Saturday affairs? Will Support categories feature on the Foxtel coverage (and the live Ten telecasts?) Can we expect James Phelps to be the journo chosen to front the briefly mentioned "Motorsport 360"? |

This will be the last year I follow V8 Supercar. Highlights packages are terrible, we need to see how the race unfolds, how the track changes, how the strategies come into play, how the tyres start to fade away - we can't see all that when we're jumping from crash to crash time permitting. I really enjoy the Australian GT series but look how awful those highlights packages are - no way will I accept that for the V8s.
I really don't understand how they could possibly think this is a good idea. Fans and then sponsors are going to be leaving the sport in droves. We're already down to 25 cars this year due to lack of available money. Australian GT needs to get Tony Cochrane out of retirement to get their series up and running on free to air. I've been a loyal fan since 1997, the only time I've missed a race was years ago on the old analogue signal when I've been out and set the VHS wrong. After this year, I'm out. RIP V8 Supercar. V8 Supercars will do just fine. Look back to the late 1980s/90 when touring car racing in this country prospered at a time when EVERYONE had to wait until 11 o'clock on Sunday night to watch the racing on TV.
It's unfortunate that a proportion of fans are not going to be able to afford Foxtel, but it's going to be an absolute bonanza for those who can. Waiting until 8:30 PM for free-to-air sure beats 11 PM. |

For the hope of all things good in the world, lets hope not. The guy is a fool and I am not sure what is more worrying - his lack of motorsport knowledge or if that he thinks that he does have motorsport knowledge. |
