Hi I am looking to buy an in car camera lens that will fit my new Sony Handycam. Can someone point me to the thread that was about in car cameras as I can't find it?

Cheers

Not 100% sure but it was new out a few weeks ago. Will look on dabs.com and come back. It is something CR-55 or something?

I used in car cameras in my Alfa Romeos in the late 90s but had to remove them in 2000 or 2001 as most circuits suddenly won't let you use them or they want to charge a couple hundred pounds.

Yes - you will need to inform the circuit and complete any paperwork/pay any fee that they require. Andy Bothwell is the contact for MSV circuits should you wish to use it at Oulton.

SpawnyWhippet has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

No, if you read the final instructions to competitors, they all state that you need to get permission from the circuit or organiser to use recording equipment. Not that anyone usually reads these anyway...

And I think you have to have the car scrutineered with said equipment attached, too.

correct. you must always race the car in the state it was scrutineered. eg, if you have a bump in quali and 'fix' the nose cone with tank tape, you are supposed to scrutineer again. (speaking from extensive experience :-( )

Yes I knew about that but was not sure about the signing of forms etc as I thought that was just it if you wanted to use it for business.

Ian do you have a email address for the guy at MSV? I may use it for the MSV FF1600 at Oulton Park.

I guess Richard Peacock will be the man at Anglesey.

Yes they write camera ok and sign over it on the scrutineering card

You still have to pay / or be refused even for home/private use.

If you find a circuit that lets you use cameras for nothing let me know

At the festival in 2003 a company was fitting a camera to your car then sending you a dvd for £200 they had obviously done a deal with Octagon

sorted - email from Andy

Chris,

If the camera is for personal use only, which it appears to be, there is no charge. But you do need to fill in this form and hand it to the scrutineers.

Cheers,

Andy

Is it still personal use if you have the results on a website.
"Answers his own question" I guess it is.
Knowing Chris, when he has got it all sorted he will be doing a rental deal .
Still Chris, it will be great to watch the steering wheel comming out of the car before you as according to Franky thats what happened at Anglesey last year.
