james s should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Just got back from nurburgring, intresting weather (v.hot,v.wet) good meeting
more like a british club meeting than the oldtimer.
Bad meeting for us, stripped timing belt, bent valves (hart420s).

oops sounds like Mr Wadsworth has just been given some more work! Does your father do the Orwell series the whole time? Whenever I have been at teh same meeting as them I have always been impressed by how well run it looks

Orwell series seems very good and competative so far. This is our first proper
crack at supersports.Usualy we race in group 4 but the b8 is having some
well earned tlc (ready for silverstone we hope).

F2.

Spoke with Supersports co-ordinator and they will not take later Thundersports cars.

have you got a slot on the Silverstone grid or are you a reserve? Are you doing Carol's race or WSM? I have my Merlyn in that race.

I've seen the car, a nice tecno.
Whats it like running a two tier trailer?
I could do with one really.

I emailed HSCC, they dont have any immediate plans to reintroduce Thundersports at the moment but if enough owners get togeather something could happen in the future?

possibly more interestingly Julius told me that if enough people were interested and someone underwote the cost he would include a 1 hour race in his programme.
the trailers are great I only sold it as I dont have 2 cars at the moment and Chris approached me last year abt buying it. I got Brian James to make and they did it well. It towed perfectly whereas I think a parallel top deck could make the centre of gravity too high. I was able to tow it at 80 behind my LM200 quite happily (obv abroad and only where I was allowed to)

I would certainly support the race with my entry if there were enough similar cars.

I think initially the only way to run them would be to tag onto the back of somebodyelse's race in an invitation class.Around a large circuit like Spa this could possibly work quite well.

Also as a side point, when people refer to CN cars what do they mean?

Cars built to the FIA regulations for production sportscars:
http://www.fia.com/sport/Regulations...appendixj.html
see article 259.

Something along the lines of the old 2l Group 6, or in later years the C3 cars.

SBI should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The cars running in the Sports Car Challenge Series (see the participants listing at www.sportscarchallenge.at ) are modern cars, much newer than the original Thundersports Class.
The LeMans Classic to be run in France july 2008 (see www.lemansclassic.com ) is open for their former kind of cars up to 1979, so too old for Thundersports.
But like the musics "going back to '80's", racing does the same: This period is coming back to racing live. Just wait and check the news and keep the sparkplugs clean!

I raced at Dijon 21st-23rd September 2007 in SPCC - a prototype series for cars from 1970's, 1980's and 1990's. At last some where to race - and at good meetings. Hopefully there are more cars out there which should now come out of the woodwork.

Well done James. What did you race? What engine? How did it go? What was the circuit like in that car? Who was quickest?

I run a 1982 Chevron B60 Thundersports car - Ford 2.0 - white with a red stripe. The quickest car was a Lola 1979 with a DFV. The pace of the cars was fairly similar to Orwell Supersports. The circuit is excellent, well worth making the effort to go. I came 3rd.
For more info about the series check out:

http://www.autotecnica.fr/spcc.php

For 2008 there will be 4 or 5 races, mostly in France.
The cost for Dijon was 550 Euro, for a 30 min practise and 2 x 30 min races.
Excellent value for money.

Provisional 2008 Calendar SPCC

5th - 6th April Magny Cours
3rd - 4th May La Bresse
7th - 8th June Croix
13th - 14th September Charade
4th - 5th October Dijon

The website should be updated soon, http://www.autotecnica.fr/spcc.php
Its an ideal series if you have a sports proto from 1970's - 1990's.

Just come accross this thread. We used to race our sports 2000 in the RJB. "It was great fun " Sadley the drivers rep and owner of a Chevron B6 kicked us out . We can now race the Sports 2000 in the Yokohama FHR enduro races with meetings at Hockenheim, Nurburgring, Spa ect. Will have a look at the autotecnica and put it foward to owner tomorrow night at our annual end of year Curry House meeting. Thanks James.
