[V8SC09R05&06]Winton Motor Raceway, Victoria

With Jamie Whincup and the T-888 living up to it's terminator-esque team number (Ie: being an unstoppable machine), can anyone stop his dominance or once again could we see the #1 Hogster mobile win series races five and six? The use of stickier rubber and smaller fuel tanks will throw a curve ball for the 200km race while the 100km race could throw some surprises if some people will use the soft tyre.

Pick of the bunch:
Jamie Whincup
Will Davison
Mark Winterbottom
Garth Tander

Dark horses:
Fabian Coulthard
Craig Lowndes
Jason Richards
Jack Perkins
Kelly brothers
Steven Richards

For those attending bring your FM radio &/or TV as you can pick up the broadcast & timing on UHF TV Ch29 & 31 and the commentary on FM 87.6MHz.

An interesting and exciting weekend to look forward to - Winton not in the middle of winter (thank heavens ), new rubbery stuff to play with, should be great!

But will it make a difference? Nope. Jamie Whincup first, daylight second, third, fourth, fifth...

EOI's are supposed to be with VESA by COB today... for the REC.. Presuming FPR (or someone else) stumps up for the REC.. TKR will not appear at Winton with a car using their own licence.

The Official Assignee allegedly still has the TKR brand to sell to satisfy debts.. if it gets sold on, maybe it can appear elsewhere....

so the contenders from within the current field are FPR, PMM, and maybe WSR? and outside of them you have that kiwi bloke whose ready to run i forget his name,

jamie for the win if hes out front he will brain them and if he's mid pack t888 are the only team who are bang on with strategy so my guess is hell come in 4 laps earlier then every1 else and come out in front :P either way JW with the win
frosty second
davo third

tander in the wall (fingers crossed)
fabian and jc rounding out top 5

Will was strong there last year with DJR so there is no reason to sujest why they won't be strong again this year.

Attended OP last December for the 35 deg Saturday, onto Wakefield this weekend and then Winton the following weekend.
For all the discomfort that goes with supporting this great sport, you wouldn't have it any other way.

FPR should be closer to the T8 pace as Winton is their test track.

Pace isnt worth anything if you cant finish a race without a car in the wall

Someone wise once said that racing at your test track isn't the advantage that you would think. Instead of arriving and setting up the car to the conditions and chasing a decent setup that way like most teams, a team is more likely to set the car up to the best setup they had at the last test day, and then could fall behind as they aren't using the weather conditions etc to assist them with choosing the setup.

Hope that made more sense to you guys than it does to me reading it

For the record, I shall be there in my usual vantage point, I'm hoping for a HRT victory, but I'm more likely to get T8 coming towards me first.

Could JW do a Frosty's Winton Pole Lap. That was a 0.7sec gap.

My Favourite 08 moment was when Courtney/Besnard comeback drive at Bathurst. Courtney raced through to dominate the opening stint had 15 sec. gap to Lowndes who was in 2nd. In the 2nd stint a slowly deflating tyre (originally diagnosed as a damaged anti-roll bar) slowed Besnard's stint in Courtney's car allowing Whincup to assert dominance over the field rest of the race. On lap 160 S.Richards, fading badly on rear tyres was unable to stop Courtney move into 3rd place.

Well, a smart team would take weather and track conditions in to account when setting their car up. But then again, we are talking about FPR aren't we.

Its more the preconcived 'ideal' setup, rather than going with a blank canvas, so to speak

It has raining up here all day yesterday, so the grass in Winton's infield will be nice and greasy. I hope it keeps away for the rest of the week.

Q: How do you end a four month dry spell. (12 years actually)

A: Schedule a V8 Round......

Check the latest weather

BTW Trev, speaking of keeping away; will you be there next weekend ?

A prediction of around 1mm a day is hardly alarming ??
