KennyG should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I wonder if the DDMC and/or Northern Saloon folks would be up for a bit of nightime endurance racing? There is some very nice tin running in both these series. The pit stops may present technical problems for some, but nothing that can't be sorted.

Put that on in early September and you would have a lot of support.

Ken, there are reasons why the EERC run their night races late in the year, being :-
1) Many, if not most circuits have a curfew, which can range from 18.00 to 20.00, depending on local arrangements.
2) MSA regs determine that to race in the dark, you must also have practised in the dark. To avoid an expensive 2-night meeting, and to capitalise on the maximum hours of darkness, you need to practise as soon as the official lighting-up time is reached, then race immediately after. You can only do this from late-October onwards, and maintain the curfew.

On top of the above, you need to flodlight the pit area and straight in front of the pits (crucial for timekeeping) and have track lights that get progressively brighter towards the floodlit area, and progressively dimmer away from it. Don't forget, paddock must be sufficiently lit too.

It's damned expensive.

Thanks for the clarification Steve. You learn something new every day. I have never dug that deep into the MSA night racing regulations.

Nice to meet you on Saturday and I hope the journey home wasn't too tiring after such a long day.

Just to put the records straight about Croft, certain unamed reporters (Mr Wood oopss) said i caused the Pink Porsche to spin at the first corner, this was untrue, as when his problems began I was on the opposite side of the track about 20 foot behind him, the reason i spun was braking mid apex to avoid hitting him, i know the driver said after the race he had silver paint on his car, but i can assure you it was not Marcos paint.
Thats got that off my chest

See you all at Donnie

Sorry, Martin, that's what comes of getting only one side of the story ! I actually asked Philip Harris twice "are you sure?", and he told me about the silver "dna" on the back - I couldn't see it because it was dark by then.

I've got it wrong before, and I'll probably get wrong again, and I guess that goes with the job, and I'm sure you'll all appreciate that it's gross ineptitude rather than malicious critiscm !

Again, sorry Martin - I owe you a pint, mate, so I'll have to avoid you now in case you take me up on it.

Martin, just coming back to the Porsche business, After I spoke to Harris I still wasn't really sure, so you'll notice I wrote "the lightest of taps" so as to mimimise any apoportioning of liability. Or so I thought !

Topwelshman - If you can't find details on the EERC website, then there is nothing to be told at the moment. Let's get the last couple of races out of the way, then work on next year can start in earnest.

Donington race length - lets say at the moment that the race will be 150 minutes, and will be run between 17.00 and 19.45.

Del - Bottomwelshman ???? - those rumours were true then !
