888 to run 4 cars in 07 ?
Has this rumour done the rounds? DJR to supply the other licences.
The 888 cars to get a new colour scheme/primary sponsor ! |

well the new sponsor/colour scheme rumour has been going around for a while.
so have the rumours that djr would get a new sponsor next year. then there was also the recent thnig where fpr and djr said there would not be an alliance between them next year |

So is this Ford's idea of copying Holden? I mean Uncle Tom oversees HRT/HSVDT, so are they going to put the two front running Ford teams together in a bid to become more successful?

Except that DJR isnt a frontrunning Ford team. Not in the same mould as SBR, 888 and FPR at least.
If any of the Ford camps feel this is whats necessary to stay on top of Walkinshaw, surely extending the SBR/888 deal would be the best option |

I hear that one of the teams mentioned is going to struggle finacially to field any cars next year as it is, so a merge may well be the only way to prevent a collapse.

been so good to know ya
As I heard it, it is a move to counter Walkinshaw.
As it seems 888 has its 07 sponsor signed sealed & delivered, sayonara DJR may be on the cards. |

That's the word - but about a month ago Roland mentioned this rumour about T8 and DJR and said it's complete nonsense
if anything is to happen with more cars for T8 the talk is it will be a 3rd car from the Howard team stepping up to the big time, but with the shrinking grids ( 28 soon? ) i don't see how they'll fit.... |

At least Steven Johnson would shock a few doubters with a decent car, both him and Davison would be odds on for top 5 in the championship with triple eight machines.

Does SBRE have the capacity to supply another pair of cars with powerplants? Or will some existing customers leave the service?

I personally would like to see T8 take their engines back in-house.
Lowndes drove a car with the never-used T8 engine and said they were every bit as good as the SBR jobbies anyway.... Didn't BJR just get back the services of some gun engineer ( whose name escapes me right at this moment) ?? PCR would have to be one of the first flicked in the grid-cull - maybe there'll be engines laying around everywhere!! |

In terms of engines... an SBRE unit is said to be very very good... I would seriously doubt a Briggs-inspired 888 unit would be anywhere near it. Having said that, the previous 888 engine builder now works with SBRE on the 888 engine program. Perhaps some of the newly learned tricks ended up on the old 888 engine stock? |

Phil Curtis - that's him!! Cheers!!
So there could be a bit of knuckle between Britek and T8 for the rally program then?? interesting.... The engine that Craig tested was European born and bred - not ex-Briggs. A workshop in France rings a bell actually.....the only spark that ever got put in it was when he tested it at the end of 2004 whilst still 'officially' an FPR driver.... Lowndes tested that engine while still at FPR and at that point had not idea
T8 would be using SBRE for the coming season and during that test had engine problems. He did say it was a nice engine but has since said that the SBRE is the best engine he has ever had. Roland Dane is no fool. If he thought he could win a championship from inhouse he would have done so. |

Sadly Mr Lowndes would be used to engine problems at FPR.... I wonder if it put him off at all?

Perhaps the engine side of the equation may come from the DJR side of the equation? They don't seem to suffer from a lack of grunt...

Your right but in almost 2 years of using SBRE T8 have had 1 engine failure. How many have DJR had in that time. I think the Cosworth influence at WPS is the ford engine to watch. But SBRE is still a nice unit to have and with Lowndes and Little's car set up skills they are getting great results with it. I also found out that T8 started selling front suspension bits to FPR at the start of the year so that tells a story as well.
