Proton Satria GTi HC
Hi Guys I'm racing a Proton Satria GTi (FWD) on Tarmac HC's. One Track has a tightish right right left but the track two Rounds later had 31 bends in 1.89k's (and it was wet!) and the rear end monopolized the times achieved. I've decided to make a rear wing (Hatch back style of car) but I'm pondering about thickness and material type for the Mounts. This new wing will be a foam core with the mounts buried in the composite. As it's going on a Hatch the Mounts will be below 100mm in height. My query is what are your thoughts on ideal Mounts thickness? I made a Gurney up for the std Factory Wing and a small improvement was noticed. I hope we can talk about the Chassis Set-Up / Tuning elsewhere.

My 01 Proton Satria GTi Hill Climb Car has an internally std 4G93p Engine and Gearbox. My mods extend to purely 'bolt-ons' at this stage. K/N (Oval) Air Filter. Custom (long) Air Intake. Torque Master Plugs. Firestorm Hyper Ignition Booster. Moroso Wires. Slick 50. Penrite 0-50 (with Zinc). Magnetic Oil Filter. Water-Wetter. Colder Thermostat. Heat Wrapped Exhaust. Heat wrapped Intake and bottom Radiator Hose. Std Exhaust with 9.6kg rear Muffler cut off and a bit of pipe made to replace it. Michelin PS3 Tyres. Wheel alignment with a little more rear wheel Toe-In. Short Throw Shifter fitted with Ball Bearing Race's and a new Leather Gear Knob! Yee-ha! Let's race....... Going ok atm - am leading the Class State Series.

Been busy over Easter here. Built ala Simon McB's style low drag down force producing Splitter. I've extended the original Splitter to a total of 180mm out front and 400mm back to level with the front wheel arches. Fences are made from Plastic which we use in Speedway cars here whilst the base is 12mm Plywood with a joint about 450mm from the left side so that if I have a damage moment it only has to a half that needs replacing (well that's the plan). Ground clearance is 110mm. Thoughts???? Should I make a a Mount for the middle at the back of the Splitter? At the moment it's just bolted to the original Factory Splitter which has had stiffening mods mainly in the centre. |

My final result was equal 3rd in a 19 car field in the State Championship. That's against a field with only two other road tyred cars beside me. The rest were track designated cars on Semi's Slicks. The guys in front were like half the weight and twice the hp and yep they are a 5-7 seconds ahead of me in the DRY! So I hope it rains Cats and Dogs next year because my Michelin PS3's were awesome in the wet (2nd twice and 3rd Outright once). Changing over to Nankang Semi's with a stiffer Front Bar (and better than std Shocks) for next year and I'll be developing a Ford Ka to run in the next Class down (Class A) while I'm running the Satria in Class B.
