New Torana LJ XU1 Race Car project
Well I took the plunge recently and have decided to get back into racing after a 4 year break. So I went and got (With the help of a good mate) a pretty good yellow LJ Torana. The advantage over racing a HQ will be lack of panel damage. It's got all the stuff need to be the good base of a Group Nc car, Triple CD Strombergs, good body etc. But I keep looking at it and thinking that there is heaps of work to do. Oh well I am a gluten for punishment

Bondy, excellent choice of car and class. What colour is it? Will it be ready for the Nationals at Eastern Creek in September? You'll like the Appendix J Assocaiation, they're a pretty decent bunch down there.

I wouldn't bet my house on escaping panel damage, there are some pretty desparate racers out there!

Some, but not many, Historic Touring Cars would be the friendliest and cleanest form of sedan racing in Australia.

You should never take photos whilst driving because you may not get a good shot!
Look carefully at the right hand side of the pic and you will see the tail of the plane that I was trying to shoot! |

OK Morrie, i know that 1/4 vent, you're gonna have to show us pictures of the whole car now.
Probably in the road car forum though, lest I be accused of kidnapping threads to prop up my own forum. |

You won't get a CD player past the Group N eligibility guys, if it wasn't invented in '72 they won't let you run it.
Actually the eligibility guy for Group N in Sydney runs a very quick XU-1 himself. |

Real race cars use leaded petrol and don't have rego plates. They might let you replace the CD player with an 8 track.

David- don't forget a certain white Torana which sent a wheel into the coal mine....
Vince Macri- didn't he come up here a year or three back? I remember him driving at OP, and he sure went hard... |
