STOLEN: 2 Formula Atlantics
I wonder if the forum members could help out with this.
My Father, Terry Fullerton's Lola T460 and my team mate Daryl Taylor's March 78B have been stolen last week from Daryl's workshop near Yeovil. The cars details are: Lola T460 Chassis HU17 Engine 1600 BDA, Hewland FT200 Gearbox March 78B Chassis 78B-8 Engine BDA, Hewland FT200 Marked 782-MBR Both engines have been built by Racing Fabrications and have the blocks painted a distinctive Maroon colour. Both cars have been campaigned in the HSCC Derek Bell Trophy and had just been prepared for the new season. The cars were stolen with NO WHEELS they were on chassis stands only with the wheels at our other workshop. We are offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to the return of the cars. Please contact me on 07712 885354 if you can help. Many thanks for any help. Bruce Fullerton. |

Right, I'm 'sticking' this up here, and in the Chassis History Archive.
I hope Ten-Tenthers are able to help in tracking these down, Bruce. |

Sorry to hear your bad news Bruce. Looking back on some pics that you sent me, I think this is your Fathers Lola?
I really hope that you have success in finding both cars and that we see you both over here for the Park in August. |

Many thanks for the kind sentiments guys. Yes Peter thank you for posting the image that is my Father's car. Daryl's March is Red/White - I should have posted these pictures. We are taking ads out in Autosport/Motorsport/Motoring News etc as well as many forums.
Thanks again. |

Stolen Atlantics
Perhaps you might put posts on all the Escort Forums as those engines will most likely be heading in that direction. Just a suggestion and the best of luck with finding them. Must be absolutely gutting, so sorry for you.

Bruce asked me to post some more pics of the stolen cars.
Which for some reason, won't post! I'll try again in a moment Last edited by Peter Dunne; 17 Apr 2009 at 10:31. Reason: Scratching my head! |

That March was possibly the prettiest 70's single seater anyone made.

Terrable news and I am sure you have been through all the reasonings as to why they stole them as they would not be able to easily sell the cars or gearboxes. FT200s do not come up for sale often and The engines and a few bits are the only things easily sold on. The Gear box builder should have a record of the crown wheel and pinion numbers even if the box numbers get taken off. When my car eas stolen (purley because it was in the trailer when the trailer got stolen by professsional trailer thieves) most websites were happy to post the fact that it had been stolen for free, so e-mail all the sites you can.
It can not have been easy to take them without wheels. |

RT -what happened in the end re your RT1?
I cannot understand why people steal race cars as they are so easily identifiable with chassis numbers etc any buyer will look into great detail about a car before they buy it It is not viable to break the car for spares as folk will ask what car the uprights brakes etc came off so unless it is shipped away to a country where there are no race people they are "useless" commodity |

It was stolen by professional trailer thieves. Unfortunately it was in the trailer when they stole the trailer. If it had been stolen by gipsies they would have dumped the car. Shortly after it was stolen I got information that a chap was offering an engine and gearbox for sale in the stock car world in Suffolk. The police did not find anything at his place but he raced Legends cars on oval tracks but his car was run by a family from Trowbridge who also raced Legends cars. I was also told that the father of the Trowbridge family was in trouble with the police for having stolen trailers on his farm.
I went to a few race meetings but they were not at them but I was told they always did the one race each year in France (perhaps a couver for inporting drugs as why only do the foreign races) I went to this race in France just in case they were trying to sell parts there as it would have been dificult to sell them in the UK. No parts but there was one of my gerrycans. They admited that they were on Police bail for having stolen trailers on their farm but they new nothing about my car and there was a chap at the begining of the year selling gerrycans at a race meeting. They said that I could serch their farm for my car but I suspect they just berried it. It was now clear what had happened but there was not a lot more I could do. The police were not interested. I did have a few frank conversations with them but to no avail and you must remember they are criminal thugs. If anyone was interested I could give them their detailes by e-mail rathere than posting them on this site. |

I am glad that the previous post has been edited as I was conserned that it was rather incorrect to mention names! I am not saying if they were correct but it was a number of people within the 'oval fraternity' that alerted me to the situation as they knew what was going on and were very upset and ashamed about it! There are some good people around as well.

I know that it goes against the grain but if you believe that these low lives know where your cars are perhaps offer them a reward and anonymity (no names no pack drill) if the cars are left in a motorway car park on a specific day.
It would p*** me off but faced with the loss of two valuable cars is it better to pay something to get the greater value returned? |

I did take that route that if the car got left up a farm track/layby and I got an anominous call telling me where to find it, I would be happy to leave a reward! But nothing.
ps. I wish I could get the spell cheque to work! |

Update
Thankyou everyone for your continued help. I have just had some information last night - however it does not fill us with much hope:
The local paper for the Yeovil area ran the story along with an interview with Daryl at the end of last week. Yesterday an anonymous caller rang the editors desk and gave the following information on the cars. Apparently they were stolen by someone in the local area who sold them to a "dealer" in London for £2500 who the caller believes immediately shipped them abroad. The caller did not ask for any reward, however also knew details of the other items stolen from Daryl's house and of his movements/holidays - none of which were mentioned in the article. The police have been informed. Doesn't exactly give us much hope - one person kindly rang me last week and suggested they may have been sent to Easter Europe where they would be "lost" in very low key local events or trackdays. Someone else mentioned a new series starting for Atlantics in Japan. Anyway - Just wanted to pass on the latest. Thanks for the continued support |

Surely the only reason anyone with actual knowledge of the crime would give you any information would be to put you off the scent. If it were my kit I would assume that it was still local, the perpetrators are still in posession of it and want everone to look elsewhere, thereby taking the heat off them, I am not an expert in these matters.
