Pretty sure Vettel doesn't want to hear Vettel or anybody else moaning about blown tyres either!

McLaren look in a bad shape. I wonder if Alonso has any kind of release clause.

I think Fernando has done extremely well to bite his tongue...I can't see there being enough time to clear up what's an unknown problem + performance issue(s) in the coming few weeks :/

It seems that the only thing McLeran got right was the color of the car.

McLaren/Honda have clearly gotten off to a rough 2017. At one level, no matter who you are, you can always have unexpected issues, but given the history, it is a bit mind boggling that they are having the power unit problems. I have done a bit of reading and it sounds like the oil tank is maybe down to it being a totally different style than what they have used previously, but even then, it is surprising. The other issues with the engine, whatever the cause, they haven't yet said (I think they are waiting on post teardown analysis from the group in Japan), but that is also surprising. It does make you wonder if there is a systemic and ongoing problem with Honda, McLaren or both.
With that being said... lets see what happens between now and the first race. I believe they have been running the engine de-tuned or at a minimum being careful about G-loads (particularly in braking zone) in an attempt to not aggravate the oil tank issue. All of that allows them to get mileage and look at the aero and chassis side of things. So I don't think we will be seeing any raw "speed" out them until they address oil and engine issues. Richard |

Considering it's an entirely new engine design they're trying out, it's not so unreasonable to see them encounter some teething problems.

In their efforts to hamper the Mercedes AMG F1 teams dominance, FOM (and the FIA) have gift wrapped the 2017 season to Mercedes F1. |

It's a good point about Honda trying a new engine, you're bound to have a few hiccups along the way. I'm sure in time they could be challenging for the podium sometime this season

I think Jos was a decent driver, bit too fond of the sand box, but otherwise decent.

Ah Villeneuve, one of the few characters of the sport of this century. Certainly it would have taken Flav's offer in 2000 to join him. Shame, because even if his Sauber days you could tell the racer was still there.
Funnily enough Villeneuve IIRC told Flav of Fred back in F3000 and so Flav signed him up to his management and the rest is history |

The Williams appears to be half decent...
...the McLaren looks to be 2.5 seconds+ off the pace still... |

Honda with engine trouble again. That's engine change number six since testing began. And that number is what Honda have admitted to. The real number might be more. Yikes!

Yep - at least 6 - although you can be reasonably certain it's more than that. Either way - they've used more than a seasons allowance of engines in 5 days. Even when it's working it still seems to be the least powerful engine - so unreliable and lacking power. An awful season beckons - what are the odds on McLaren finishing last in the constructors championship?

They need to find something, because they need to return to the sharp end soon. After showing signs of progress last season, it's a shame if all that is wasted this season

Getting rid of Giles Simon doesn't bode well as a sign of this being simply teething issues. I doubt they've even got the legs on Sauber. Madness. From the number of fan-videos of the McLaren at Barca it looks so twitchy at the rear too... I think it's fair to guess that they're the slowest out there at the moment... |

I get the feeling that by the speed of Williams, Mercedes are sandbagging massively - I'm expecting them to rock up at Melbourne and be well clear of the others - I'll have a friendly bet now they'll be 1 second clear in qualifying...
