You said hairdresser's car, so I immediately brought up the quintessential hairdresser's car.

Why were you disappointed with the MX-5, the power shortage is really the only thing most can criticise.

Hiardressers over here couldnt handle the 2.0 litres of raw power from a Celica, so opted for 1.6 MR2s...

The handling was "soggy", I found it very soft and this effected the ability to control oversteer - it sort of hopped and lurched around. I must stress this was one of the very early ones in the UK and that the only other car I had driven round there at that time was a 911e 2.4, oh and a 944se.

Anyway what shall I do with my this MR2? I reckon strip it out and use it for hillclimbing might not be a bad idea.

Ghinzani,
before stripping your MR2 to make a hill climber, make sure you can get the right hot bits, cams, diff, clutch etc. Otherwise you'll be disappointed.

4th and 5th gear would be a start!!!!!! No it would only be for a bit of fun - Id share the car with one of my mates, the idea being to beat each other at our local climb thats 20 minutes away. Without injuring ourselves like we do indoor karting of course...
