Tooling around.
Has anyone seen an F1 car tooling around in a town centre, a car park or somewhere else. Most likely on a promotional run. Button in Budapest recently? Red Bull in Milton Keynes? or indeed anywhere else, they seem to do it most. Any of them at Goodwood?
I'll start with a Mercedes-Benz in a car park! |

Not quite of the same ilk, but how about ...
2006 Motorfair at Knockhill with a 2003 Ferrari F1 car (Rubens Barrichello's car) doing some laps in the hands of Nathan Kinch. Oh it lapped in a smidge over 43 seconds if I remember right. The acceleration up the hill from the hairpin was something else ... apparently from the hairpin it went through the speed trap at the top of the hill at 190mph, the data logger suggested even faster before braking for T1 On the same bill a Ferrari FXX |

Jenson Button will be driving a McLaren and a tba driver will be driving a Caterham around the streets of Dublin next Monday.
Reminds me of the most surreal thing I ever saw. Anyone remember the film 'the Commitments'. This was filmed in one of the worst suburbs of Dublin - Darndale. During the Celtic Tiger years, the Darndale area was largely rebuild and given a posher name. There was one particular new housing estate with 'aspirations' - the interiors of the houses were designed by Laurence Llewellyn Bowen and the gardens by Dermuid Gavin. The were the principal sponsors of the Ireland A1GP team. So because they sponsored the team, the A1GP car would be driven around the housing estate for the residents' amusement. I remember going along one day to watch out of curiosity. They had 2 x A1GP cars there. Every half hour or so, a bemused looking Ralph Firman would get into one of the cars and drive it, do a few doughnuts, some high speed drive-bys etc. around this housing estate full of semi-ds. |

The Webber on the Harbor Bridge thing a few years back was interesting.
Particularly as the F1GP was in Melbourne and that sort of cross promotion goes against the grain. |

I saw a RedBull f1 car demonstrated in Cardiff Bay last year and met Mark Webber. A thoroughly nice bloke. Daniel Riciardo drove a RedBull NASCAR and I have plenty of vids and pics but haven't got them off my phone yet. The event was 'RedBull Speed Jam'.

http://youtu.be/NxtlrKU0UBI In the small Dutch Town of Roggel, jenson Button raced some locals through and around the 4.000 inhabitants counting village. He drove his McLaren, while the villagers drove on a simulator. |

I rather liked the street demonstration that "A. J." Allmendinger did in Sao Paulo.
Just another commute into the city for most onlookers! The shot of the pedestrian with the brolly, walking across the road in front of the rapidly approaching F1 car, is priceless! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhPZ8...4FE745EAF1EC1F |

Must be fun finding your way round a city in normal traffic in an F1 car with the rain lashing down. Did he get out of 1st/2nd gear?

Heikki at Goodwwod 2006, although it wasn't "officially timed" (practice on the friday) the commentator said that the time Kovi did was the fastest ever (at that time) up the hill.

Saw Nigel Mansell tootle around a BMW Sauber in their Pit Lane Park, though that was at Silverstone which perhaps isn't quite the question you're asking. Was still pretty fun seeing Nige in an F1 car!
