Ralf won't miss Spa!!!
From F1-Live.com
Ralf won't miss Spa If it gets dropped from the calendar [20/10/02 - 06:00] Ralf Schumacher at Spa he future of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on the F1 calendar is looking bleaker by the day, especially with new circuits added the schedule including Bahrain and China. Hopefully we will still see the Belgian track in use for the 2003 championship season, however this is dependant on the teams consenting to running the race minus tobacco advertising. Most drivers and fans love the famous track and will be very disappointed to see it vanish from the series, however there is one man who won't be too sorry to see it go, BMW Williams driver, Ralf Schumacher. The German isn't a fan of the inconsistent weather conditions normally experienced at the venue, and he doesn't really believe the fans like it oo much anyway. "I wouldn't miss Spa," he admitted. "It's just very unstable weather, quite difficult to get to without any traffic jams. I think for the spectators it's just not very good to look at anyway." ============================================================ I've said i'm not a fan of this guy, that i don't dislike him either... but what the hell! Spa is one of the greatest driver challenging tracks in the world, and it is one beautifully crafted track. With challenging curves, high speed bends, and a tight hairpin set in a beautiful background of uphills and downhills... There are NONE in the current list of F1 circuits that could match it in terms of natural beauty and rawness of track. The hard to predct weather only serves to make the challenge harder. I for one hate to see it go. I think Spa is wonderful. Its a great departure from the silly mickey-mouse tracks we have. And i think Ralf is so wrong in making this statement. |

Spa isn't a challenge anymore with all the electronics. Suzuka is much more challenging.

Spa isn't a challenge anymore? Surely it is one of the most challenging, don't all the drivers say so? Surely the addition of driver aids has a similar impact at most tracks... eliminating wheelspin and manual gearchanges doesn't eliminate challenge (or Yoong Yoong would beat Webber, or TGF would beat Rubens EVERY time) I don't understand, hakkiman:confused:

As a Belgian, I totally disagree with Ralf. He may have his own opinion, but I don't think it's the one of the whole F1 community.
Spa is, together with Suzuka, the most challenging track on the schedule... |

I'd say he only feels this way because he has never gone well at Spa, except in 1998 when he finished 2nd, and even that was a fluke!

And the Nuerburgring...................???????? It is widely acknowledged that the 'Ring has it's own weather front and hasn't got a decent road nearby. |

Muppet.
Need I say more? If he doesn't want spa on the calender then he shouldn't be driving an F1 car, he's one of the luckiest people in the world, you'd think he'd appreciate it every now and again! |

It's incredible. The racer, the man that challenges every car as equal... what does he like then? The Autobahns?

Ralf doesn't like any track that is high speed and dangerous. He likes slow gokart track like Hungary. It is a shame that he occupies such a good seat in F1 - shame on BMW for shoving this guy in Frank's tent!!

I am sure Frank has thought of that many times. But BMW is the sole reason Ralf is at Williams. So I suppose JPM would have to move if JV was to ever return to Williams.

I'm afraid that won't happen anytime soon,as much as I'd like to see it.I think that Williams has a greater problem with his drivers on-track antics with eachother more than anything else. They really need to smarten up in a hurry or we are going to be facing many more outcomes like we witnessed this year. I agree with shiny side up.I think the addition of drivers aids has taken away some of the real challenge of the circuit.Spa has always been one of the very few tracks in which a driver can really make a difference. With the addition of traction control practically all the drivers can take Eau Rouge flat now, where as before,it was so much more of a challenge for the driver. I don't find Ralf's comments all that surprising.I think he should resign himself to driving up and down the pitlane, instead of racing with the boys.Is that safe enough for you Ralf? Tye |

Expecially Ralf is boring and quite dumb (sometimes quick too but that's not the point). He does not like to compete and i reckon he is totally unaware of the history of motor racing, which he thinks started ten years ago. However he fits perfectly in the sport as it presents itself today.

Mmmm... Not really...
They're too much alike to be able to stand each other's presence any longer than the span of a press conference. |
