I was just wondering how heavy the BTC touring cars were.

The old super tourers were around 950 KG were'nt they?

I'd expect they'll be a little less than 950kg.

I seem to remember reading "875kg" somewhere (an 8% reduction), but BMP have said that weight limits will be assessed up to three times over the season anyway.

Whatever happens, they're gonna be quick.

BTC-Touring is 1150kg with driver and 3 litres of fuel, BTC-Production is 1110kg, again inc driver/fuel.

Ok pen and paper at the ready. This is a bit difficult and I'll be asking questions later.

The first 5 drivers in the SPRINT race (in both classes) will get weight penalties of 15, 12, 9, 6 and 3 kg respectively. This will apply from the next meeting and for the remainder of the season, up to a maximum of 60kg. If you were previously carrying weight and you finish the sprint race outside the top 6 you get weight removed: -3kg for 7th, -6, -9, -12kg for 10th. Outside the top ten or non-finish means you can remove 15kg. Base weights (i.e. the 1150kg) can be adjusted up to 3 times during the season as required.

Simple realy

Well that sounds fun! I pity the poor person trying to keep track of who has what!

So the feature race result does not affect it at all?

From West interview it sounded as if the sprint result would have immediate effect.

yeh win the sprint and you get extra weight for feature and if you win that you get more extra weight on top of the extra weight for the next race:

sprint-feature-next meeting
wins.....wins...
xtra....xtra on xtra...xtra on xta from last race

Why couldn't they have just done 50kg extra for 1st, 40 for 2nd, 30 for 3rd, 20 for 4th and 10 for 5th, with both the sprint and feature race results counting. That will then be carried over for the next meeting only. (With a max of 60kg being permitted). Much simpler.

Les, the offical answer hasn't been published yet but I've seen at least 2 different interpritations of the proposed rules. Depending on who you believe weight penalties may be sprint race only or both races.

Also I've seen that penalties will apply imediately after the sprint (i.e will be effective for the feature) and that they will not apply until the next meeting (seems more likely).

Until BMP make public the official rules/regs we'll just have to wait and see.
