Yes this is the first mustang to have IRS.
My interest in talking about the Z4 is low but they pay the price with a car that isn't so good to race Le Mans, Daytona, or any track with long a straightaway. It wouldn't really be any different. What to do now?

For what reason??? Really??? It's no different then Corvette, or Viper, or BMW, or anyone else.

It's not a matter of if it competes, it's a matter that people ASSUME it does...

The market is a small place. People still tend to be quite brand loyal. It also sets up an amazing storyline race to race. You have the three big US manu's taking on three big foreign ones...

The drama writes itself if they do it properly.

What a great-looking Mustang race car. However, I feel that if Ford goes with this, I think it will compare, contrast, and compete with other "curved brick" race cars... and I'm talking about the Nissan GT-R and the Bentley Continental GT.

well Z4 too isn't a proper GT car, anyway I would like to see more a new ford GT than a mustang.

Same here, but the question is what will the Ford GT would look like.

I was thinking of Ford taking cues from the Mustang Mach 40 as seen at SEMA last year, but I doubt that would happen.

Anyways, let's hope that Ford won't be putting that faux-Aston Martin grill on the front-end.

Yup... bring it up, along with Camaros and Ford Focuses and Seat Leons and whatever, it doesn't really matter anymore what you have in that class, it's all for show

How does the new Mustang compare to the Aston Martin Vantage in terms of size?

New Mustang has a much longer wheelbase and is a 2+2 instead of a two seater.

I want to see a modern Ford Cobra. It would be sorta like the V8 powered BMW Z4 GTE car, but unlike the Beemer, the roadgoing version would be AWESOME! Plus the return of the "Cobra Racing Team" would be cool.

Not quite but,

Jürgen Alzen now has the cat - or rather the Pony - out of the bag, In addition to the Ford GT with whom he still wants to go with Dominik Schwager to overall victory in the VLN, the team now wants with another spectacular car made by Ford go to class victories. A Ford Mustang GT, which is to go into the group H at the start, will experience its first roll-out in advance of the sixth season run. During the second half of the season then the first race inserts in to VLN Endurance Championship take place.

"The fact that we would not build a Ford Fiesta, has surely can think of any," said team boss Alzen at the launch of the car: "We put this car once it is 'nordschleife fit', in the second half of the season for the first time and hope to make in the group H can fight for victories. I am very pleased that we can bring a second car from the house of Ford at the start of this project and am even looking forward to this first roll-out with the Brummer. The riders are not yet definitively established. "

The modified with Jürgen Alzen Motorsport-Ford Mustang is just as it did the Ford GT one ex-Marc VDS car. Place in the GT3 class with the Homologationsproblemen known at that time to go behind has Alzen decided the car in Group H use, where at least class victories lie in the realm of possibility and you have a spectacular stage for customer assignments.

The Ford has a Rush Yates V8 with four valves per cylinder and four overhead camshafts. The performance should be close to 600 hp and the force is transmitted to the rear axle via a sequential X-Trac six-speed gearbox via paddle shift. When landing gear struts were installed on the front axle McPherson. The rear axle we performed with double wishbones. Round work the best damper sponsor H & R. The AP Racing brake system has on the front axle via a 6-piston caliper with 380 mm discs. At the rear axle an four-piston ensures system with 360 mm discs for corresponding delay of the 1375 kg heavy racer. The tires made by Dunlop front and rear 31/710/18, 30/660/18 down in the dimension to three-piece BBS wheels 12 and 13 inch width with central locking. The fuel tank capacity of the car is specified with 100l.

A successor of the Ford GT.

That would be the bomb.

If true I hope IMSA keeps it together untill then, imagine Ford, Chevy, and Dodge fighting it out in the GTLM!

I wouldn't be surprised to find this is about a hot version of the new Mustang being used as a base, rather than a new mid engined GT

It's not a Mustang - there was a plan for that, rejected by Ford board. It IS a new Ford GT - And it is much, much more than a rumour

I hope the Ford GT materializes just in time for 2016 if TUSC survives that is.

If not, they could revive either the Cobra roadster/coupe or the Thunderbird.

Of course it will survive that long... Grand Am survived for over a decade. The question is what it'll look like.

It looks pretty good trackside. Walking through the vendor area there are displays by BMW, Chevy, Dodge, Mazda, and Nissan. Ford needs a presence here, and I think they realize it.

Sounds like they have a (base) car, now it's time to convince the board to start the program and development?
