Pit Stops

Sorry if this has been brought up before!

To stop the double stacking, which has cost Lowndes the championship and Bathurst, why can't the pits be closed during Safety Car laps?

and double stacking, didnt cost lowndes bathurst, getting stuck behind a slow moving teammate under yellow cost him bathurst

and how has it cost him the championship?

You will probably proof me wrong, but I do remember several times this year where Craig has lost a heap of positions due to double stacking which has cost him points!

I feel that a driver that is a better racer than a qualifyer is hugely disadvantaged by this childish rule. Simply keep the cars out there during safety car, then they can pit at their own leisure during race conditions and all is equal. It's not ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think apart from bathurst, there may have been only one other round where it was an issue. (maybe two)

of course then you make an assumption that he would have pitted before the safety car and not afterwards(in which case he would lose a big chunk of a lap)

it really hasn't cost him much, definitely not enough to win the championship, as Jamie has always been ahead and would have won anyway, and generally Craig has caught up most of the spots

If it has been as big a deal as you make it out, you gotta take it like a man, cop it on the chin, improve your performance in qualifying. Just for clarification, would you be starting this thread if Whincup was the one disadvantaged?

Well i have noticed that Craig got the more experienced co-driver for the enduros, and i didnt see craig have the little things go wrong to him mid seasson

plus there has been all this talk about Craig getting favoured and Jamie havng to come out post Bathurst and tell us all is well with him and the team.

and yet Jamie is winning the championship.

so thats why i wondered who the Number 1 is

because this has been tried before. And everyone pits as soon as it's possible to make it to the end of the race (before it was when the CPS window opend, now it would be as soon as they could make the distance on fuel) in order to not get caught out by a safety car and lose track position. So the race ends up with everyone pitting withing 2 laps of everyone else, no-one ever tries a long stint strategy.
