Time will tell. As the article says, they have spoken about Gen 3 in the broadest terms only and with no detail. An answer to your question is probably years away.

Would it be better if V8 Supercars would adapt the Class One regulations? Oh wait, it won't work!

If they can't adopt existing regulations like BTCC's Next Generation Touring Car or even modified GT3 regulations, I'm hoping that they can learned from past experience when using Gen 2.

If we're talking about regs to take us from 2020 through to say 2030, I don't see how they could disallow hybrids without compromising chances of manufacturer support.

Manufacturers are not likely to be interested in 2022 if "normal" engines were the only allowed option

High costs?

This sounds like a job for the honorable mark skaife - he'll punch out a good, cost effective platform with no deals for the boys
